NASCAR 2013 season

Its only for this race

After that its real simple
-top 36 on speed (1-36)
-owners points (37-42)....they go by last years for 1st 3 races...after that its this year
-past champions if needed (43)

no more "top 35 are automatically in" rule.

That's the way it should be. Heck they should go back to only allowing 5 provisionals.

Practice for the Duels....Lots of cars ran a few laps. Most ran at most 15. Marcos Ambrose was interviewed in the paddock and said that they ran a few laps and really did not learn all they needed but were concerned about keeping the car in one piece.
I am thinking the priority was keeping their starting position. The 88 lost an engine and will have to start from the back. Not that it really matters in a plate race. But it's still a PITA.

yeah but with the money for the last 6 places not being as much as previous years the whole "start and park" may change

yup

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- NASCAR will reallocate prize money from the last five spots in the field this season in an attempt to make it less profitable for teams to start and park.

"We moved prize money higher in the purse, so if someone's intent is solely to run a lap or two and park, the revenue stream shrinks,'' NASCAR president Mike Helton said Tuesday during an "Autoweek" panel discussion in Detroit.

According to NASCAR, each position from 43rd through 39th will receive $4,000 less for each position. For example, 39th will receive $4,000 less than 38th, 40th $4,000 less than 39th, etc.

1&2 were set last Sunday
odd numbers 3-31 were 1st thru 15th place in 1st duel
evens 4-32 were 1st thru 15th place in 2nd duel
33-36 were fastest 4 from Sunday (not in front row)...ironically all crashed
37-43 were based on owners points

Man,I sure hope the 500 is more exciting than the unlimited and bud duels,or is it duals?Seems like whomever is up front stays up front.I liked the train effect of the drafting much better.Cars in 43rd could be up to 1st in half a lap.Doesn't seem to be the case this year.

Glad he made the race, but dang he isn't going to be very good if he doesn't get that car going faster.

I don't think he will be going much faster. They said last night just to get in the 500 field, meant $250,000 for most drivers.

I see the Nationwide series was smart also about those "start and parkers"

Only 40 drivers make the race now (instead of 43)

Keseloski pulls a complete DICK move and puts a car into the grandstand. What a schmuck. He was not going to win, so why punt the cart in front of his.
Fortunately it appears no spectators were injured. At least for now. I don't see any rescue or medical people...Yet

Are you sure you saw the same race as I did?

BK didnt put ANYBODY into the grandstand...
Regan Smith (the leader at the time) said afterwords he tried a block move on BK to try and win.....but he failed
the car going into the catch fence (it didnt go into the grandstand...part of the car did pierce the catch fence and did go into the spectator area) was part of the big wreck
