NASCAR 2012 season

NASCAR has FINALLY tweaked the SCHEDULE ...
For the last several years, they have raced at Daytona, then to Phoenix then to Las Vegas and they would have an OFF week after Vegas, a break WAY too early in the schedule, however convenient for the guys that like the atmosphere in Vegas ...
That said, I'm glad they changed it and they are racing this week in Bristol !

That's still better than it used to be. They would take the week off after Daytona and then go to Rockingham two weeks later.

A few years ago when Darlington lost the Labor Day race they wanted Mothers Day weekend so its a Saturday night race. A couple years ago it got rained out so they DID run on Mothers day

what a joke

CONCORD, N.C. -- NASCAR chief appellate officer John Middlebrook overturned on Tuesday an earlier ruling by the governing body that had threatened to cripple the No. 48 team of driver Jimmie Johnson for the 2012 season.

In doing so, Middlebrook rescinded the loss of 25 Sprint Cup championship driver and car owner points assessed, and also rescinded six-week suspensions levied against crew chief Chad Knaus and car chief Ron Malec. The only penalty that remained in place was a $100,000 fine for Knaus -- while both he and Malec will remain on probation until May 9.

I highly doubt the 25 points was going to cripple Johnson for the season.

The 100,000 is pocket change for Rick, afterall, he's the one that will pay it.

correct but a 25 point difference can make a difference. The advantage for them (well other than they got it overturned) was it was the 1st race. So they had 25 races to make it up.

Now had it happened say at the July race then it would have been more difficult

Boy someone must be a Jimmie Johnson fan...If that had been any other team the penalties would have been held up.

The "master appeal" judge use to work with Chevy and apparently is "an old buddy of Rick Hendrick"

I dont get why the appeal board is 3 people and the "master appeal" board is one dude. It should be more than just one guy.
