I signed up for a 2H/2J equipment switch last Friday. The CSR who took my order stated that the charges were 200.00 for the 2 Hoppers and 15.00 for the service call. She then state that I would be given a credit of 23.00 and change for service already paid for. When I called today to verify the charge I was told that there was no such refund and that I would be charged the whole 215.00.

It's only 23 bucks but it's just another case of the right hand left hand etc. at Dish.

I think you are misunderstanding - I believe you will see that credit will show on your bill, not on the upfront.

I wish people would ask questions more often before concluding and then declaring out loud about fraud and misinformation.

If a lot of people are misunderstanding something, one could argue that the people doing the initial explaining aren't being sufficiently clear. In some cases, like when they advertised a first year price in big letter for new subs, and then raised raises by $5 a month or two later on those who signed up, perhaps intentionally so. Dish agreed to a legal settlement on that one, granted one in which it didn't admit guilt, but it seemed to think people had enough of a legal case against them that they didn't want to go to court, and then suddenly changed their terms of service to say people can't sue them and must submit to binding arbitration. Hmmmm...

And I wish that other people would stop placing themselves on pedestals and making false judgements about other posters without any knowledge of the facts. I called Dish back twice and was told in no uncertain terms that I would not be getting any credit or refund, and that the CSR erred on my initial call.

I would have demanded that my service be cancelled and that I be refunded in full for any costs paid. If someone representing the company lied to you about costs, then any verbal contract you had with them to do an install is null and void. I'm not a lawyer, but I think that's how things work anyhow. Either they have to honor what the CSR promised you, or give you your money back and let you out of your commitment upon request. They can't hold you to an agreement you made under false pretenses, or shouldn't be able to, anyway.

You get $15 off a month or whatever the credit is. If people would research wouldn't be as big a deal. And besides if the op calls back they will prob b able to get an explanation of prorated charges and credits. All that pops up on screen is a total of prorated credits unless they decide to read out each individually which confused most people. Just wait til bill is rcvd and look at it. You may be surprised. Possibly.

Advertisements that say "FIRST YEAR PRICE $30 A MONTH" or whatever in big bold print are meant to give the impression that's the first year price. Little teeny tiny print at the bottom of the page that needs a magnifying glass to read can't negate that and make it not false advertising. That's not just my opinion, that's a lot of people's opinions, hence the class action lawsuit (Which I wasn't involved with, for what it's worth). And Dish clearly felt it was possible that a judge that would rule that Dish was in the wrong, because they settled rather than let the case go to court.

If the credit is supposed to be "$15 off the regular price", then it needs to be advertised that way. But, wait, telling people the truth clearly wouldn't have been as effective at luring in new customers. So they resorted to misleading tactics to get customers who they otherwise wouldn't have gotten.

Transferring recordings and timers from 722k to Hopper

If you get no video on the Hopper during install..
