I agree the petition will probably not do much. I think you hit dish with $. I signed it but in all reality I am not hopeful. As a fan of Monstershd I'll wait to see if anything plays out. Some people won't admit this but I am sure Charlie is not liking what he is hearing from his CSRs. Keep calling/emailing E*.
They could but petitions don't work very well anymore. Calling/downgrading service/emailing will get the message across better.
I posted that because some people were saying that maybe dish didn't handle it better because they couldn't legally tell us the voom channels were being taken down. It may have been in a different thread forgive me if it was. I agree these online petitions almost never work but sometimes they do. In the end I think if your mad at dish and think you can do better with another company feel free to change providers.
Maybe the petition won't do anything, but it will at least be a sizable signpost of dissatisfaction with their decision. It's like the old "letter-writing" philosophy: if that many people (double signings not withstanding) are willing to sign a petition because they're unhappy, think of how many folks are upset that know nothing of the petition?
I called Dish today to put my official "customer dissatisfaction" complaint on record. The operator I talked to said something sympathetic like "everyone is very upset," (i.e. they've been barraged with calls about it).

"UPDATE 1: (Currently UNVALIDATED) As of May 15th the Dish Network will be bringing back Monsters HD, Kung Fu HD, and Gameplay HD. This will only be available to people living outside of Southgate, MI."
What's going on??

I just got off the phone with Dish and the CSR didn't know anything about that so I dunno. But the CSR didn't sound that knowledgeable anyway.
I would love to know how that got put there. I mean, who posted it? (Unfortunately, the guy that started the petition appears to have been banned from these boards, so I'm guessing we won't be able to get any info outta him...)
The reference to a particular town in MI is probably an inside joke of some kind. But I really don't get it.
Well, I don't know exactly who is updating the info on the petition, but the bit about the four channels coming back has now been replaced with this tidbit:
"UPDATE 2: I can't confirm or deny the rumor circulating about the few channels coming back -- Dish refuses to comment on it. Be sure to make your voices heard, and keep calling. Remember that a company like this understands money more than they do customer requests, so downgrade your packages and let them know exactly why. More info as things develop!"

Why not disclose the "source"? It would seem to add some validity to a statement like that...
