I'll just pretend DirecTV showed me the 2nd game of the DH in Miami today.
I'll also just dream DirecTV didn't shut off the Reds and Padres feeds shortly before Adrian hit a 3 run homer in the 18th to win it.
I must of been dreaming as well when I had to run into the bedroom to catch the end of it on MLB.TV.

Supposedly DirecTV doesn't make mistakes with EI. These ladies and gentlemen are just 2 recent errors of many that happen every year. My records show this makes 9 games now since 1996 that DirecTV hasn't shown the end of in EI, but the start was shown.

9 errors in 12 years ??? thats not so bad ....

That said, I can understand the need for them to pay attention better.

I wonder, when a game is over on D*, it always goes to the D* logo for quite awhile.
Do you suppose they have a time limit on the feed ????

Was the Reds game in it's entirety on the local RSN ? IF not, it may have been a FSN issue instead of D*, normally D* just passes the feed along to the subs, via EI or the RSN., they don't actually make the calls as far as what is shown, they just pass the feed along.

9 errors is the part where games weren't completed. You factor in all the games missed like the 2nd game of today's DH, feeds cut in the middle of a game then brought back then it's much more than 9.

Reds feed was in it's entirety. The time limit is set at 6 hours, but DirecTV needs to have employees work the weekends to prevent these types of issues from happening. The 2nd game of the DH was missed because it was a weekend and probably the 6 hour limit wasn't extended as well.

They don't make the calls, but all RSN feeds should be in EI and they are not always that way and the 6 hour time limit should be extended or done away with completely.

MLB.TV doesn't have 6 hour windows for games.

Directv has fallen asleep all this past week on the late Reds games in HD. They keep forgetting to flip the switch and I have to call and tell them to turn it on.

I don't think it's D* that has to flip the switch, I would think it would be the provider, the RSN, not the ones passing the signal along.
Any time I've called them about not seeing HD, they tell me they are passing along what they are given.

I don't know. When I call and talk to them they tell me to hang on and then ask me if it's on and it comes on.

It is because FSN Florida & FSN Ohio still come out of Rainbow Master Control and share a HD channel on c-band, till they move their master controls to Houston (with the other FSN's) they both cannot do HD at the same time. So if a early game on FSN Florida HD runs late, The Reds game cannot start on the HD feed.

I posted this in the DirecTV HD forum, but since there were some EI problems mentioned here I thought I'd post it here as well.

Today, the Rangers-Rays HD feed (724-1) is blackout out. Says it's not available in my area. But the regular feed (724) is coming in fine.

Last night, the the HD and regular Blue Jay feeds of their game didn't come on until about an hour into their game vs. the A's.

Also last night, the HD feed of the Nationals-Padres game (747-1) carried the Reds-Pirates game that was supposed to be on 727-1. As soon as the Reds game ended, they switched to the National-Padres - which was in the 4th inning by then.

This programming costs too much for these kind of screwups.

I had the HD Blue Jays feed before the regular feed. I had to change TV setups because of it. There's a reason for the last screwup with the Reds and that is not DirecTV's fault. It's an uplink issue with the owners/past owners of the RSN's and where it's done.

Strike Zone Channel has a blog and location at myspace. Leave a response to a blog listing the problems. Someone will forward the message to the right person supposedly at DirecTV from the response I got. Postings at DBSForums were supposedly forwarded to the right people at DirecTV. but that was 4 years and zillions of mistakes earlier. Only thing to do is keep listing them. Eventually, someone will care and fix them.
