MLB Award Predictions

Here is my prediction for the official and unofficial awards for the 2009 NL Seaon.

NL

MVP - Pujols (Cards - no one will even come close to challenging him)
CY - Wainwright (Cards)
Rookie - McCutchen (Pirates) - Poor year for rookies
Comeback - Tulowitzki (Rockies)
Manager - Tracey (Rockies)

Unofficial breakout season - Kemp (Dodgers)
We already know who got Comeback Player of the Year - Carpenter (Cardinals)

Here is my prediction for the official awards for the 2009 AL Season.

AL

MVP - Mauer (Twins)
CY - Greinke (Royals)
Rookie - Porcello (Tigers)
Comeback - Podsednic (ChiSox)
Manager - Washington (Rangers)
Aaron Hill (Blue Jays) wins for the AL

A somewhat official award was announced today.

Andre Ethier of the Dodgers won the MLB Clutch Performer of the year award.

There are two winners from 3 different NL teams. The Cards have two, Molina and Wainwright, the Dodgers have two, Hudson and Kemp, and the Phils have two, Victorino and Rollins. One team in the AL has two, the Yanks have Jeter and Teixeira.

I know many fans are going to claim that other are more deserving. I can easily make the case for someone else other than Jeter.

Clutch Performer ????

Never heard of the award, soon they will make enough awards for everyone to have one

btw, has the AL ROY been given out officially yet ? (not TSN's version)

No way in hell Joe Mauer should have won this award over Gerald Laird. Laird maybe the worst hitting catcher, but he's was tops or close to the top on most catching stats.

Mauer wasn't even close to Laird's numbers:

I know. If you notice, most of the winners are from the teams that made the playoffs. This could be because the best teams have the best players or it could be because they get the most recognition.

Another thing is that offense also plays a role in the GG, even though it shouldn't. The better all around players are noticed more, thus their defense standouts more as well.

Technically the Tigers did make the playoffs, albeit a 1 game against the Twins.

Basically, if that's the case then what's the point? If all the award votes are popularity contests then don't call then different awards.

Joe Mauer, hey sorry you didn't win MVP this year, but here's a GG for ya, WTF?

You really cant be serious about Larid over Mauer? Mauer can make up for any insuffiecents in fielding where Laird can not. Pitching can also prevent a catcher form throwing people out. I can guarantee every major league team will take Mauer over Laird. Mauer hits consistently for average. This year his HR and RBI sky rocketed.

As for Awards

AL CY-Greinke
AL Manager-Waukmatusu(sp?) When you make that turn around there is no choice
AL Rookie-Beckham
AL MVP-Mauer

Yeah, actually I am serious about giving the GOLD GLOVE award to the best FIELDING player at their position. WTF are you serious?

What is the point of a Silver Slugger award then?

Based on your thinking Joe Mauer is a better hitter, but a lousy catcher, but give him the award because he can make it up with his bat?

Hey maybe Laird can go on the juice and become the next Ivan Rodriguez.

What are you talking about??!! LMAO!!

WHO has the MOST hits by ANY PLAYER since the All Star break....?

Chris Coghlan

WHO leads ALL Rookies in hitting AND OBP and is in the ONLY Rookie to be in the top ten in EVERY SINGLE offensive category??

Chris Coghlan
Looks like you called this one correctly

They obviously don't go on true stats for the Gold Gloves. Brandon Phillips should have won over Orlando Hudson.

Ok, then what's the point of this award? I'm not trying to argue, with you Ramy or anyone else, I just don't see the point of this award.

It's like an ESPY award then, and call it such. Don't base it on something and not go by that when it comes to handing out the hardware.

Here you go MLB, here's a bag to put all your BS in.
