MLB 2022 Season

Considering the 2 off days for travel, I would think Verlander is set up to go in Game 5 and Valdez in Game 6. That would give Verlander 4 days rest between starts and Valdez 5 days rest.
I thought they were Off Sunday and played on Monday ? No ???

That SUX, if its not till Tuesday.

Next game Is Monday at 8 pm.

I meant 2 off days in the series (after games 2 and 5). The schedule allows the Astros to come back with Verlander in Game 5 and Valdez in Game 6.

Game 3 postponed until tomorrow night. I’m happy to see that they moved the travel day off from Thursday until Friday. The stakes are too high to be playing a potential 5 straight nights.

Houston at Philadelphia -World Series Game 5 will now be going head to head against Philadelphia at Houston- Thursday Night Football.

*looking at the calendar*

Thank goodness half the World Series is in Texas. The MLB is getting a bit lucky. There was a cold (well historical average seems to be "cold" these days) spell for a couple weeks in October, but we are looking at 10 degrees above average to run out the week. They better finish this thing off.

Baseball has been playing fast and loose with the weather for 20 years. Just listen to those “on this day in ….” They are covering the end of the World Series weeks ago. The weather degrades in the north sharply week by week after October 1. They are going to end up with a farce game with snow and ice someday.

With Amazon’s ratings crashing anyway, the NFL could have the lowest recorded rating in 40 years this Thursday.

I can not imagine what the NFL was thinking when it paired the Eagles against the Texans for a Thursday night game. In what hollow little mind did this seem like a good matchup for what is supposed to be a showcase? The Eagles were a pre-season Superbowl pick by many while the Texans were expected to be the worst team in the NFL considering they have, well, NO TEAM! Frankly, considering some of the really awful team matchups on the Thursday night games so far maybe Amazon should ask for a rebate.

Absolutely and to further your point of “on this date in….. “, this is a picture of my backyard two years ago yesterday. I live about 20 miles south of Boston, and on THAT date in 2013 the Red Sox defeated the Cardinals in Game 6 of the World Series at Fenway Park. You are absolutely correct that it’s just a matter of time before we’re dealing with snow or ice for a postseason game in the Northeast or the Midwest.

I still can’t believe Al Michaels signed up for this package.

Don’t give up hope. Astros have the firepower in their lineup to mount a comeback, and even if they fall short tonight it’s still a long series.
Oh ya, I'm not worried about the Series, but tonight is all but over.

They said Dusty was going to try to get as much out of Mc Clellers tonight to save the Bull pen ... but the pen has not been used up by any stretch.
He went into the 5th amazingly and gave up 7 runs ... Had he pulled him while it was still 4-0 ... they'd still be IN the game ...

I actually agreed with Baker keeping McCullers in there. Bullpen arms are invaluable in the postseason, and you never know from game to game how much you’re gonna need them. And there’s also the possibility of long extra inning games.

While I agree, the Astros pitching staff is very deep.
Dusty could have even gotten use out of those he probably doesn't want to use in the series.

Good to see Urquidy get in there, he was the last starter that didn't make the Post Season rotation, and he pitched well.

For all the Media bashing JV for his WS record (is it WS or Post Season).

Theres a Very good Dodger that hasn't exactly been stellar in the Post Season, one Mr. Clayton Kershaw.
Interestingly we rarely hear anything about that.

I actually think the opposite is true. From my perspective Clayton Kershaw’s postseason woes have been well documented. In fact, if you look back several years, I’m sure you can find several discussions on this very site of Kershaw’s postseason struggles (I remember being a part of some of them). As far as Verlander goes, you could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw that World Series stat. I was absolutely shocked when I saw that because I always fancied JV as one of this generation’s greatest big game pitchers. And please don’t get me wrong, I would STILL want him out there in big games.

I guess your right, Kershaw does get beat up as well.
In Kershaws defense, would they have gotten there without him ?

The Astros, yes, Probably would have gotten there with or without JV.
I'm just hoping he puts it together next time out, but I'm not as sure as I was during the season.

He was dominate in the first 3 innings in the last outing, then it fell apart ...
He could come out and go 6 or 7 of 2 hit 0 run ball just as easily as him getting hit hard.

That Astros rarely play 2 bad games in a row and J.V. rarely has 2 bad outings in a row ...
Yesterday Astros probably played one of thier worst games all year.

Damn Phillies just keep fighting ... I like thier spunk, but they need to QUIT IT !
