Well I guess my concern for Pirates' fans was all for naught. I am absolutely thrilled to see that we will be seeing black & gold in the MLB playoffs after a long, long drought. I hope they stay "hot" this week and go into the 1st round with guns smokin'!

Red Sox begin their two game series in Denver tonight. I thought it was their first time back to Coors since winning the World Series in 2007, but Don just said they played there in 2010.
 
Tonight is Todd Helton's final home game as a Rockie. I look for it to be a very special and emotional night. If I were the home plate ump I wouldn't call him out on strikes on any of his plate appearances even if strikes out. His final, AB is sure to be a tearful one.
 
The Red Sox and Oakland each have four games left. Oakland trails by one game and I'm told the Red Sox hold the tie breaker

Tampa Bay, Cleveland and Texas each have five games left. Tampa Bay leads Cleveland by one and Texas by two, so there's a lot of room for movement there. Is it a one game playoff if two wild card teams are tied for the second wild card spot?

Two-Club Tie for One Wild Card Spot:
One tiebreak game will be played on Monday. Sept. 30 (tentatively) to determine the Wild Card.

Three-Club Tie for One Wild Card Spot:
After Clubs have been assigned their A, B and C designations, Club A would host Club B on Monday, Sept. 30 (tentatively). The winner of the game would then host Club C on Tuesday, Oct. 1 (tentatively) to determine the Wild Card Club.

Three-Club Tie for Two Wild Card Spots:
After Clubs have been assigned their A, B and C designations, Club A would host Club B on Monday, Sept. 30 (tentatively). The winner of the game would be declared one Wild Card winner. Club C would then host the loser of the game between Club A and Club B on Tuesday, Oct. 1 (tentatively) to determine the second Wild Card Club.
 
The A's lost to the Angels this afternoon. The Red Sox magic number to clinch HFA is now 3 pending tonight's Sox-Rockies game.
 
Gomez hits a HR in the first inning and starts jawing at Mulholand. Brian McCan steps block him from crossing homeplate and the Brewers and Braves then have a brawl. And all 10 fans in Turner field got to witness this live.

I'm sorry, but a team that cannot draw fans shouldn't deserve to be in the playoffs.

Dodgers resting all of their starters except for the outfield. Their entire infield is resting.

Young will replace Gonzalez at 1B
Schumaker will replace Ellis at 2B
Punto will replace Ramirez at SS
Hairston will replace Uribe at 3B
