MLB 2013 Season

Here is a weird quirk of the opening part of the schedule

Detroit plays 9 games before they play a night game (next Friday in Oakland)
Opened the season in Minnesota with a 3:00, 3:00 and noon game (Central)
Home to play Yankees noon, 3:00, noon
3 games with Toronto...all noon games

and 2 of the 3 games in Oakland are day games (Saturday and Sunday)

Lackey just got pulled in the fifth inning of a very respectable start after striking out the first batter and then throwing ball three to the second. Que pasa?
Code:
Pitchers IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA
J Lackey 4.1 5 2 2 0 8 1 76-51 4.15

FWIW, the Red Sox much vilified starters, who had I think the 27th "best" ERA last year, have a combined ERA of 3.76 through its first complete rotation.

I'm guessing something physically wrong.

Edit: Yup, he has something wrong with his arm. It looks like his right bicep looking at the replay.

From ESPN.com

Game Notes

RED SOX PITCHER JOHN LACKEY LEFT THE GAME IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FIFTH INNING WITH A RIGHT ARM INJURY.

Lackey suffered a right biceps strain, according to the Red Sox. At this point, there isn't a timetable for how long he will be sidelined.

MLB HISTORY JUST MADE IN TEXAS!!!!!

Mike Scioscia just gave his 1st "live" in-game interview during a regular or post-season game....EVER! It was during the middle of the 4th inning on Fox's Game of the Week. He has always passed the task on to one of his coaches, mostly Mike Butcher. Mike has made no secret of "detesting" managers having to give live in-game interviews. Evidently, a power greater than Mike has said he WILL do these interviews this season. He was pleasant but short...much like an in-game interview with John Tortorella!:tsk:

WOW!

I watched the game and it wasnt pretty. He threw the ball...damn near hit Jose Reyes...and as son as he threw it he (Lackey) knew something was wrong. His arm just hung there at his side

Looking forward to seeing more of Jackie Bradley Jr. The kid had never played beyond AA, and yesterday finds himself as the starting LF on Opening Day in Yankee Stadium! The experts are saying that JBJ is an early favorite for AL ROY...

He's not the favorite anymore, as he is now hitting .176

The Reds 2 loses are both in extra innings.

Wow! It's April 5th and not one undefeated team in baseball. You know, this seems almost statistically impossible given there are 30 teams in league and they've only placed 3 or 4 games. This may be a earliest we've ever seen this happen.

Double WOW! It's one day later, April 6th and every American League team that had one loss yesterday has TWO losses today! That's statistically impossibler than all of them having at least one loss the day before.

Kershaw pitches another scoreless game. The Dodgers win 1-0.

Two starts by Kershaw, 2-0 record, and with no runs and no walks yet this year.

Too bad he is also their best offensive player as well. The Dodgers offense stinks big time.

Oh we'll. A win is a win.

7.0 Innings, 2 hits, a walk and 9 k's, very impressive. :)

The Dodgers traded Harrang to the Rockies for backup catcher Ramon Hernandez. Now the Dodgers are down to 7 starters. They will probably end up trading one more (Billingsley, Lilly, or Capuano) before too long.

Down by 1 run in the ninth, the Upton brothers went back to back to tie and win the game.

Watched and posted this on and from my phone from a Twitter feed. Did not see that there was one batter in between them, so it was not back to back. Never the less, the brothers both homered in the 9th to tie and win the game.
