Mascots are for minor league teams. Real teams don't need puppets to help the crowd support their team.
Loria is #1 by a mile and then some, but he wouldnt have been able to pull off his stunt without help from his Bud.
I like Wally the Monster, I also like that the team wins world series'. I couldn't care less if they're fake or unwise.

Since 2009 he has the lowest ERA, 2.43, and the most K's, 1106. Both are the best by any Left Handed pitcher over a 5 year period and the best of any starter in his first 5 full seasons.

That and the Cubbies are always sold out, hardly need a Mascot to get the crowds going ...
That said, theres alot of teams with Mascots already ... Philly and San Diego come to mind ...
This is the first big signing, particular record per year amount, in which there is no criticism of the deal.
