WHAT A HOMESTAND!!!!

Just another Angels victory! Fifth in a row and another game won in grand style as Sean Rodriguez tripled with 1 out in the 9th and Figgins drove him in next AB to win the game 4-3.

From the Pudge/Torii altercation that now seems ages ago to the clinch, a walk-off HR from Napoli, Numbers 57 and 58 from KRod consecutively to this final game which showed a team not just walking thru the final 2 weeks of the season...this has been the most memorable homestand in years for the Angels.

Yes, they may have peaked too soon and the ney-sayers are sharpening their arrows for the bulls-eye on the teams' collective back. However, if they do not make it to the final prize I will look back to this homestand with pride and pleasure and remember the excellent way I feel right now!

Thanks for letting me express my happiness here, guys. And if I get to be too much of a "homer" here, just let me know and I'll gladly tone it down.

To answer your question, there are two elimination (tragic) numbers for the Yankees: one for the AL East and the other for the wildcard.

I'm just happy that we won't see the Metrodome any more. That place has been a house of horrors for the Red Sox through the years!

The Brewers aren't the only contending NL team struggling down the stretch. The D-Backs have folded like a cheap suit, the Mets bullpen woes are starting to catch up to them, the Cardinals are now on life support, and even the Cubs (Zambrano's no-no notwithstanding) are having a terrible September (they do have enough of a cushion, however).

Mark Loretta just broke up Ted Lilly's no-hit bid in the bottom of the seventh. It was the Astros first hit in 15 innings against the Cubs.


I guess the Astros don't like playing their "home" games in Milwaukee!!

EXACTLY! With 12 games to play, the 3rd base coach is going to be the savior???

This is twice this season that management has shown no class in firing a field manager; this one and the pathetic way that the Mets handled their managerial change earlier this year.

With the White Sox losing, the Twins had the opportunity to pick up a game on them in the AL Central right? Wrong!

Tribe pitcher Scott Lewis threw 6 innings of no run ball against the Twinkies in route to a 3-1 win. This is Lewis' second start since being called up from the minors. In 14 innings of work, Lewis has yet to give up a run in the majors!

Ned Yost should have been fired after last season. Better late than never! At least Brewers mgt. has some balls and is admitting their mistake.

Okay fine, if he was that bad then they shold have fired him after last season. How is this guy supposed to get a job in the future, after the indignity of losing your job in the middle of a pennant race! To me that's not about having "balls", that's about being having zero class! I hope they fall flat on their faces the next two weeks, and then lose both Sabathia and Sheets to free agency!
