Lately I am constantly having to deal with CoPilot popping up on my laptop screen. I have Windows 11. I uninstalled CoPilot and it is still doing it. Any idea what I can do to stop this from happening? It popped up three times while I was typing this post.

If you uninstall Copilot, Windows may graciously re-install it for you (it does much the same with Edge and the previous tracking tool, Cortana).

In Windows 11, a registry edit is probably best (although Microsoft may occasionally reset the "TurnOffWindowsCopilot" key).

There are also third-party utilities such as DoNotSpy that will perform this operation (among many other useful functions).

In Windows 10, you can use an administrative wizard to "enable" disabling of Copilot.

I only have issues with this when I am typing? I need to figure out what is happening.
It is Copilot trying to be helpful (rather than just tracking your every movement and thought). If you don't want it interfering (or tracking you), you need to disable it.

It may (or may not) be that you can escape its grasp by using a different browser.

Thanks, I will try another browser. I have been using DuckDuckGo.

Define "popping up on your screen"

I checked both Firefox and Brave and I still had the issue. I need to watch the above video closely to see if I can modify the registry.
Copilot is apparently monitoring the text input windows of all browsers. As I suggested (and offered instructions for) above, you need to disable Copilot or transition to an operating system that isn't Windows. Your choice.

If you are using WIN 11 Pro or higher a GPO will do it and shouldn't get reset due to updates.

Open gpedit.msc
Go to User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Copilot -> Turn off Windows Copilot
Changed Value to Enabled

“shouldn’t” being the critical word here. If it were part of a Domain, then Domain Group Policy should override the Local Policy settings. Local Policy has been known to be reset during Security Updates or other patching events.

And, you need to be using your separate Administrator account to run GPedit. The IT gods have mercy on you if you’re using an Admin account for mundane Windows activities. ;)

I am now thinking my issue may be mouse related. If I set the cordless mouse on my table instead of on the arm of my chair it does not do this as often. I will be doing more experimenting. I also downloaded the free version of DoNotSpyII

That's a big IF with an OS often deployed among home users in its somewhat brained (absent GPEdit.msc) Home incarnation.

It is possible to install GPEdit.msc on Home editions but it is probably easier to enter in the registry entries directly.
