Microsoft Chrome?

We utilize Sharepoint Online for work documents and last week I was sent a new spreadsheet and couldn’t access it. I use IE for all work stuff and the browser was telling me that Sharepoint Online couldn’t find my user account. I fixed this by clearing all cache and cookies several times which didn’t work until I told IE not to remember anything. Apparently MS has an article out there saying to stop using IE.

I’ve disliked IE since MS decided to kill off Netscape in the 90s. Honestly I wish I could get a MacBook for work but for some reason our management is trying to get rid of them in our department.

But back to the Chromium thingie, with Firefox, Safari, Opera, Google Chrome and gauwd knows how many other browsers now being Chromium based, I'm not sure that's a plus from a security standpoint.
Just so there is no confusion, Firefox and Safari are NOT based on Chromium.

Other than a earlier visit to the wearing of eyeglasses because the displays are relatively small, what do you expect a MacBook would do to improve your situation?

Yeah I think in the long run Edge will be good but for the most part I use Chrome it's the best out there right now and has the market share as well. Microsoft will be doing more with it as far as using it behind the scenes more with Edge. Firefox and Safari can't compete when it comes to browsers you will see Google and Microsoft working more together when it comes to their browsers. Especially now that Google has the market and the current CEO of Microsoft is use to be CEO for Google as far as IE it's on it's last leg, As far as I can tell Microsoft is being nice keeping it around mainly to let state or other agencies that are still running old web standards more time to get caught up to date with everyone else. Either way I don't see it being around much longer..

More info on IE as well on how Microsoft is building a Chromium Powered version of its Edge browser..

Microsoft really doesn’t want you to use Internet Explorer anymore

IE wasn't particularly good at web standards either old or new. The only reason they keep it around is for their customers that are running Microsoft products that literally can't function without its proprietary peculiarities.

First it has nothing to do with Microsoft products its Always about some companies or organizations are better about staying up to date on their web standards than others.. It will always vary from web site to web site like with anything some do a better job than others so the limitations of how well things will function will always depend on who doing the work.

Microsoft has seldom been all that interested in web (W3C, IETF) standards so that's a load of horsefeathers. Microsoft is all about inserting their in-house derived "Industry Standards" (that they may later shove through the ISO, IETF or similar as an afterthought) by hook and by crook into the bid specs of gubmints and enterprises.

Staying up isn't hard if you don't subscribe to proprietary Microsoft APIs. Deprecation of true standards happens as necessary, but deprecation at Microsoft happens because sales revenues of a new product are suffering at the hands of an old product that it was intended to replace.

Again the reality is who doing the work and what your trying to access as far as the web goes those two factors will always be there no matter what. End of the day I tell my users use what they like but it will never change the fact that Google and Microsoft dictate the market. That being said does not mean things can't change but at this day and time it will not happen anytime soon.

To suggest that Google or Microsoft are in control of determining our fates is a disservice to the planet. Laying down and taking what the steamrollers dribble out may be fine for you but neither of these companies is looking out for anyone but themselves. It isn't hard to break away and more organizations (and individuals) should be encouraged to support projects that have shown us better ways.

Certain check printing functions in ADP WorkForceNow require IE. sadly.

Yeah, we're saddled with ADP at work as well. It seems to work okay at home my Mac using Safari, though, but I'm not trying to print checks.

We’re dumping them. Too much is NQR or doesn’t work at all.
