sheesh, sounds like a sexist comment, eh? some of the nations best sports reporters are women. i did a short gig as editor of a weekly newspaper just south of daytona beach. filled in as sports editor of a former daily newspaper in new smyrna beach. and did extensive sports freelancing for the orlando sentinel, where i once covered the annual daytona 200 motorcycle race. in fact, i was strongly encouraged several times to apply for a full-time job in the sports department!

oh and that's not counting the award i won for sports writing in navy journalism competition!
