Hi there. I've got a 3-LNB oval dish driving an HR10-250 and a couple of older SD receivers. The oval dish was installed about two years ago. Last Friday we had a pretty severe thunderstorm (which broke a month-long drought), and my reception has been sketchy ever since, especially when its raining.

When the sky is clear, I've got 90% hits on sat 119, in the 50's on 110, and zero most of the time on 101. In the rain, 119 is about the only sat I can get reception on at all. Running through the transponders doesn't help much.

Looking at the map, I'm guessing the dish is just out of alignment in AZ to the west. I re-aligned my own dish back in the one-satellite days (usually every couple of years, so I'm not surprised at having trouble now), and I have an in-line meter. Anything special I ought to know about the 3-LNB ovals before I go crawling around on the roof?

The easiest way to re-align is to start with a plum mast. Also be sure the mast’s foot is not working loose from roof. If you have no luck keep in mind that the lnb could have got zapped.

Turns out the problem wasn't in the dish or the wiring--some tree branches had grown in to the LOS while I wasn't looking. Some quick work with a hedge trimmer took care of the problem for now, but I suspect there's a tree service in my future.

Now I'm getting 70's on 110 and 90's on 119 and 101. Go figure.
