Does the external wd hd record both sd & hd and what recording hours does it store? rolou21.

It does not record either. What it does do is allow you to move recorded shows from your 622 over to it, play those shows on it, and allow you to move the shows back to the DVR. Hours vary based on the MPEG version and compression but typically Dish HD is about 2GB per hour for MPEG4 and 4GB per hour for MPEG2, OTA HD is about 4GB per hour and SD is 0.8 to 1GB per hour.

Actually what I meant was to transfer not record from the the external hd.
But thank you for the info. Quick install plus the $40 one time fee.
