Sorry to keep asking what must seem like really silly questions, but I made the mistake of trying to do a 'live chat' with the retailer who I am wanting to buy my T90 dish from and I came out more confused than when I started. Essentially, the advertisement says the dish comes with three Invacom LNB. The tech 'Sarah' confirmed this. When I asked which model they were, 'Sarah' said that you can't use the Invacom LNB(says they are only for motorized dishes), you have to use the special LNB from wave frontier. So my natural question was, why ship three LNB that can't be used with the dish that they come with. She assured me they only ship the WF M20R's and that they will work. So much for Invacom. I guess my question then is does Invacom even make a reversed polarity LNB, and if so does it get a better than 0.6 noise factor? If i'm going to do this, I want to do it right. Finally, I also want to know what the best Linear\universal LNB would be to pick up the Galaxy 25 sat. Invacom does advertise a 0.3 NF universal, but does it fit into the T90 mounts? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help this lost soul. :)

Just to add to your confusion with a question. What satellites are you hoping to get? The only satellites that you would need a reverse polarity lnbf for would be circular (dishnet) sats. Linear sats should not required you to use a reverse polarity lnbf. And really (someone will correct me if I am wrong), it would seem if you are going for circular signals in order to receive the few FTA signals - i.e. using a FTA receiver and not a dishnet one for the few legal fta channels on dishnet- you can probably still use a standard circular lnbf and just modify the receiver's settings so that it looks at the circular polarities in reverse (you just can't do this with a dish receiver since there is no way to modify these settings).

Also, just a preference of mine, I would steer clear of universal lnbfs for something like a T90. When you are looking for a setup that is going to have several lnbfs, universal lnbs limit how you can setup your wiring since you cannot use 22k switches in order to combine the many inputs from the different lnbfs.

What I am wanting to do is to get either a DirecTV or Dish Network subscription and also get the Galaxy 25. I'm leaning towards DirecTV because the rep I talked to from their said there would be no problem if I wanted to use my own dish, and the Dish rep was giving me grief about it and until I talked to his manager he was refusing to say it was even possible. Anyway, reason i mentioned Universal is that I dont plan to stop my FTA experience at just G25, eventually I will want to expand and universals would let me look at C-band as well(right?). In short, I want both FTA and subscription service, but only want one satellite on my roof.

As far as switches, I hadn't researched that far yet. It took me a week to settle on which dish to use, and now I'm on to LNB's. Switches will likely be next weeks headache :)

You won't be able to receive C-band with a T-90 (to small), I would go with standard LNBFs much easier for multi-LNBFs.

As far as the universals - they allow you to see a bit more of the frequency range (I think maybe only one or two sats viewable from most of the USA utilize those higher frequencies). They do this by utilizing an internal 22k switch to switch between high and low frequencies.

To get C-Band you would need a c-band specific lnb, and a MUCH larger dish

Awesome, thanks.
Any word on if anyone makes a better reverse lnb than the 0.6 wave frontier model? Or is that generally good enough for subscription services?
Finally, is the special sat C LNB only for the HD signals from DirecTV(aka wont need it if i dont get the hd package)?

Thanks again for all the help so far guys :)

The stock LNB's (reverse polarity) work fine for subscription services. I had one on my T90 for 110 (119 was on a separate dish with 123 G10) and it works fine.

For the linear satellites (G25, AMC4, G26, etc) any KU LNB works fine :)

:hatsoff:Awesome! Thanks a lot guys. Talking to ya'll make me feel much more confident when I place the order. Gonna research the forum for receiver recomendations tonight and place my order first thing in the morning. Then i just gotta start planning the "dish raisin' party" :D

make sure you have a buddy to help with the T90...that thing is very cumbersome to pick up (and a heavy mother)

And if you're in a windy area (and I mean like hurricane windy), the supplied expansive bolts for brick/cement are a more than a little undersized. I used 5/8" bolts, which were the largest that would fit the mounting brackets. I had the dish ripped out of my house's 10" foundation wall after winds got over 80MPH and it rolled around my front lawn for several hours before I could catch it after using the supplied bolts. Funny thing was that my reception was better after I'd set it up again.

Tethered to my Viewsat it thankfully didn't take off very far. :D
