Live from Team Summit

Well guys, I'm retiring for the night. Feeling a little under the weather and not sure why. I hope to find out more info tomorrow on the trade floor. The 813 setup did look pretty sweet.

If anyone was wondering about transferring recorded events on the dvr to a tablet they were demoing it. It said it was still a concept. It's held up because of legal issues. Copyright crap.

Also there was a concept for using the 922 as a mvr. You can have two 922s connected wirelessly and share recordings. Just a concept but it looked cool.

Thin client isn't about the connection technology as much as it is about the hardware that the user interacts with. The real work is done on a "server" and the user interface is presented on a thin client.

Thank you. Thin client refers to a simple "client" or STB that does little- just enough smarts to pass along commands and display results. Reliable. Really. Almost always. Usually.

my opinion is we won't see it released this year, but they swear it will be out around november of this year.

This is starting out like the 922 announcement and that didn't end up well. I don't see how it can be ready for a fall/early winter release. It would have to be released to production in fairly short order to be ready. Has there even been any beta testing? A year plus after announcement and beta testing and the 922 still wasn't ready for prime time when E* released it. E* has had a pretty bad track record hitting target dates with hardware.

I realize that other people's situations are different...
... but all I want is a 622 where the TV2 second output is in HD - and everything exactly the same as the 622.
Everything since the 622 is minor in comparison.
Of course, a single DVR that serves even more than 2 TVs is great, but given the hardware fees that Dish came up with, what it will cost is far more important than what it could do.

Meanwhile, crude has gone below $100, which is far more important than any of this...
Yeah...Oil futures( July 2011) are at $100 per barrel...Down from $113 on 5/2..More importantly RBOB Gasoline traded at $3.11 per gallon down from $3.40 on 5/2...
Analysts are all over the place. Some say oil will continue to rise as the dollar continues to tumble through new lows( hit 3 year low today). Some say with weaker than expected economic news and much higher than expected unemployment figures these two commodities have reached their peak.

When you make remarks just to make derogatory remarks about Dish or this site people will eventually ignore what you have to say. I think we all know a couple of posters like that.
Posting that the new whole house system is vaporware until actually released is fair. Or talking about what the fees will be. In fact most anything EXCEPT posting that it is no big deal, and not any kind of big announcement. That just shows me someone who can not be relied on when he posts. I can't count how many people have been waiting for this. (I am not one) It has to be one of the most requested things I see posted, along with RSN's being carried, and in HD.

This is indeed a great thing for customers who have wanted it. Now, lets see it actually come. :)

I see Echostar and Tivo are members of the alliance. HMMMMMM...... Rg6 is the easiest way to get Hd to every tv because it is already in people's homes. This would be perfect for most homes. Now if there is not cable run to a room the Sling Extender would be perfect for those rooms. IF They ever release it.

What I am curious about is why Dish Network does not have a digital coax signal go out instead of an analog coax signal from this new receiver to the televisions just like how you get a digital signal from an outdoor antenna and connect it directly to the television using the built in digital tuner. I was wondering that with the 922 as well. That would be the coax solution for any room from the tuner if they done that.

This new receiver is requiring an extender device in the room still which much be what is converting it into a digital signal to the television. Wish they could have built that into the receiver itself. I wonder if that extender device is also accepting IR frequencies to change the channels? My guess is no. I am also curious if someone does not have an HD television or does not have a digital tuner in another room if they will still be able to view programming from this new receiver?

Another thing I am curious about is the three tuners in this receiver. Current LNB's have three receiver outputs plus a fourth for another satellite dish. They have the separator to split the one wire to two tuners. What about the third tuner? Do you have to run two wires to the receiver then? If you have two of these receivers then that would result in a total of four wires needed and the lnb's only have three. Does this mean that an external switch is needed in such a case? Or do they have a new solution where there is a separator for three tuners instead of two? Or perhaps a third separator is used for the third wire to one receiver and third wire to the other receiver?

Maybe they will do like some of the FTA receivers do that have the input from the lnb but an output of that to a tuner on another receiver.

Scott or Schermann... what about current customers for blockbuster for this ? Ira also announced the two new programs for new DISH Customers which is effecive May 18th, those being new customers get 3 months free of Blockbuster service. In addition new customer can get a free Sling Adapter when they sign up as well.......thanks Scott and Scherrman appreciate all you did and help:) So some more questions I would like answered:

1) What is connected by a "thin client" mean ,in regards to the new 813 and the 110 boxes?

2) Does the new 813 have room for an ota tuner module like the 722k does?

3) What price will the 813 and 110 boxes cost PER MONTH? This is DISH and I don't see them leaving any money on the table here in regards to made up FEES, that they can charge, just because they can .

4) What happened to the much talked about SLING EXTENDER? It was supposed to be released last year and has been pushed back every quarter. Is this idea now dead due to the "SOON" to be released whole house dvr? All I needed to finish my house was the sling extender and I would be complete.

Without ota modules the new 813 would be useless to me . The hd picture from ota look much better to me than satellite for network tv. As for the "Thin Client" I am really hoping that means rg6 cable, that can be easily run to the other rooms in the house to the 110 box, which looks like a cable router. I guess the sling extender is now defunct. I have been waiting on that release for two years since I first heard about it. Now lets try to guess what kind of monthly fee that DISH will charge for MRV ? This is DISH here we are talking about. I can not see them giving up the additional receiver fees unless they can charge for the 110 boxes individually. OR one big $20.00 MRV monthly fee.
