Lawrence Taylor arrested for rape

Six months max, and only because he is a celebrity. Otherwise, he'd get probation. He didn't "rape" anybody.

Young hookers have ambivalent relations with their pimps. They can want to leave one day and want to stay another. Too many people are buying this story hook, line and sinker.
I just heard on the radio that she was 16 and the age of consent to have sex in New York is 17, so she may have been anywhere from one day too young to consent to just under a year too young. That sounds a lot different than saying that a fifteen year old had sex with an adult, which I initially had figured was someone 18 or over.

She won't want this to go to trial. With Taylor being a celebrity, some other John might want to ingratiate himself to Taylor and talk about how much she enjoyed having sex with him and how easy it would have been for her to leave. And given that Taylor is several cuts, socially, above most other "clients", supposed someone testifies that she either seemed to be looking forward to this assignment, or even bragged about it afterward?

BTW, I scarcely follow football, other than a couple of NFL teams, and wouldn't recognize Taylor if he walked in the door or even care if he did.

I can't say that I didn't see something like this coming for this guy.

Thought it was going to be a big time drug charge or dui/manslaughter death.

The worst part about this, is this crap goes on all the time, but LT is famous. So, now everyone involved is famous now.

Isn't it a little early to be convicting LT? Based on what little I have heard, he might be innocent of the charges. Let's use some common sense and wait to see what he is charged with and what kind of evidence there is.

With LT's track record it's also a little early to say 'he might be innocent of the charges', but your point is well taken. Those who ranted yesterday about locking him up forever were just being reactionary.

At the VERY least....he will get in trouble for soliciting a prostitute. IF they had sex, which supposedly he is DENY now...it will be worse. We have definately not heard the worse of all the sordid details YET.....

The maybe, only because few details had come out. NOW that more info is out, the reaction will be different.

Jason Cole, the reporter, wants him completely removed from the HOF....WTF?

WTF INDEED!

its a shame to see probably the best defensive player in the history of the game to be not as good with his personal life. it really looked like he had turned things around.even if he's not guilty it still sucks being under this type of spotlight.

I dunno. The DA usually doesn't indict you unless they have a STRONG case.

From ESPN.com:

Meanwhile, the man who authorities say set up Taylor with the runaway told the woman to tell Taylor she was 19 years old and not 16, according to a court statement taken from an FBI special agent.

Well, that tends to exculpate Taylor from KNOWINGLY having whatever illicit contact he did with a minor, except it is the pimp saying that he told Taylor she was 19. If he did this in conjunction with also telling police that HE, himself, actually believed her to be 19, then his statements would be unpersuasive and have little evidentiary weight because he could be trying to get himself off the hook for trying to knowingly arrange sex with a minor.

Beyond that, the lawyerly denials by Taylor's lawyer that specifically deny having "sex" with her may be Bill Clintonesque, because Clinton took the position that fellatio did not constiitute sexual intercourse

There is a very good chance that he gets off on ALL serious charges. How crazy is that? He MIGHT get off...no pun intended...with nothing but a probation or even a suspended sentence. Now I KNOW his past might not let him, but you never know what a good high priced lawyer can do...look at how Roethlisberger and Stallworth got off pretty easy.

While I agree with your post in theory, Roethlisberger does not belong in the same category as Taylor and Stallworth. He was not charged with anything, so no judge/jury let him off at all.

Yeah....but you know there would have been a fancy, high priced lawyer getting him loose.
