I'm sure they're fine with it as long as all the comparisons come out shiny. This is why they court the press (by playing hard-to-get).But that would be like android and the last thing Apple wants is to be compared to android.
Funny thing about that.... The 'cellular data' icon looks just like the 'hotspot' icon typically used on Android. When I first installed iOS 11, I opened the control center and thought "why the hell is the WiFi hotspot on?", so I turned it off. I'm on WiFi 90% of the time so I didn't notice that I had no 'data' for days !
As far as copying Android, Apple fanboys will deny it to no end. What's stupid is, if Android has a good idea, copy it ! If iOS has a good idea, Android should copy it too !! Speaking of copying, someone accused LG of copying the iPhone X because their V30 looks like the "X". Mind you, the V30 was available at the time while the X was not !!
Who's to say that the design wasn't stolen? Apple seems to be losing their grip on secrecy.
Hyundai (and to a lesser extent, Kia) ripped off the design of the latest generation Ford Fusion in multiple models and did so before the Fusion was released. That's what happens when you try to apply old-school product cycle times to modern competition.
Little things like that bug me, even more so when a) they're in core Apple apps and b) they have design documents that cover most if not all of these things. As for what's in the GM vs what will be out soon/now, I can say with 100% confidence that they will not make UI changes like these. If they choose to fix these things, it will wait until iOS 12.

How many times does Apple have to release a defective operating system "upgrade" before people learn to wait until the bugs are identified and fixed, if they ever are? Remember when iOS 8 bricked people's phones and iPads, or when 9 did, or when 10 did? Why in the world, considering Apple's history, would anyone rush to install a new, untested in the field, OS?
I'm not aware of anything truly 'defective' in iOS 11. Is it bug free ? Of course, nor will 11.1, 11.2, 11.3, and so on....
As opposed to Android phones that never get an OS upgrade? I generally give it a few days before upgrading, but this time around the IT team at the office gave the all clear after a lot of testing on the GM (they’re really conservative about OS upgrades), so I took the plunge day one. Two things I dislike:
1) that webpages from the same website no longer stack in groups of threes (I tend to have dozens of tabs open in a day and work my way through reading them, having them installed makes for more scrolling to find the next page I want to read); and, 2) the back app arrow is missing from the upper left corner when going between apps (I get that with the new dock and multitasking app switching is easier, but the single button press back was faster).
I waited a couple of days, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, but I have not seen any show stoppers or mention of bricking so it seemed safe to move forward. Enough people here were running the various iOS 11 betas that it seems to have been quite well tested.

You can add various controls to the Control Panel by going into the Settings for Control Panel and adding, removing, and changing the order. iMessages added more stickers, and two new Screen effects like Echo and Spotlight. "Do Not Disturb while Driving" can be activated either by detecting motion faster than a walk or by pairing with your car's Bluetooth system. You can also customize the response to someone texting you while in the DNDWD mode (and select whether it's just Favorites or Contacts that get the response as opposed to Everyone).

That must only be iPad specific. I’ve been using iOS 11 since beta 1. Ive never lost the back arrow. If anything it’s been more persistent.
And on a side note to everyone; don’t complain about bugs until it’s been installed for a week. With the betas you would have bugs that would disappear before the next beta was even released. It’s like any update from any company for any device, it needs time to settle in. Especially as big of an update as iOS 11. It had so many bugs to start with, they had 10 betas. More than any previous version of iOS.
Updated my iphone 6+ today. Uneventful upgrade. A few things different but I was not surprised as I watched a couple YT videos on the differences for the 6+. Updating my wife's SE now. I was worried about all the fuss over doing the backups so I backed up both phones to the icloud and my imac just to be safe, but all my "stuff" apopeared just as before. I haven't verified all the apps yet to see what failed in 11. I did see a couple just don't respond.
After the phone, I upgraded my watch to wOS4 and there are many changes that I really like. I see they implemented the flashlight function exactly as I suggested back on the second day I owned the watch. Sure took them long enough. About a year ago I also submitted a suggestion for theater mode and that was also added. Nice to see they didn't just toss the suggestions into the trash.

I upgraded all 3 if our phones last night (myself, wife, daughter). We all have different Apple ID’s and passwords. But both my wife and daughters phones use my password for app purchases. It’s never been a problem. This morning I get a pop up saying that my Apple ID is being used to sign into an iPhone near Livingston, NJ. And it recommended changing my password, which I did. About that time my daughter text me and ask why it’s asking for a code when she tries downloading from the App Store. So I gave her my new password and a couple minutes later I get the same pop up about someone logging in near NJ. This obviously has something to do with her downloading an app. But we’re all in TN. Has anyone run into this?
I just noticed today that there is a toggle for the Control Center to do a screen recording with or without audio. Don't remember seeing that before.
Yes. You bring up control center and toggle the screen recording and audio on/off is an option. Of course you have to put the widget into the control center from 'settings' first. Works well and saves the recording in your photos. I've always wanted that for those calls to places you are trying to do some business with and none of the 3rd party apps for it are any good IMO.
