Folks, any feedback on the below setup is appreciated.

Antenna #1 Pointing North
Antenna #2 Pointing South

Both have 8 feet of RG6 going into a splitter/combiner, output has 5 feet of rg6 going into a CM7777 pre-amp. Output has 80ft of rg6 going into house feeding into a cm3414 4 output amp.

Thoughts? Would this work? Or using a pre-amp and an amp is just overkill?

Cheers, K

With a pre-amp you need the other part hooked up too. So the 7777 has 2 pieces. One that goes by the antenna and one that goes in the house

The distribution amp does that. It keeps the signal stable after the split.

Well if you look at tvfool everything is LOS if you are anywhere south of Montreal, even the US stations from Burlington. I would say a preamp is overkill unless your antenna pointing south has little gain. If you really are going to have 4 TVs on long runs then the distribution amp would be something to look at.

Just keep in mind that using a common splitter/combiner to join two antennas, 1/2 of the signal from antenna #1 is radiated out of antenna #2 and 1/2 of the signal from antenna #2 is radiated out antenna #1, so if you do not have ample signal at the antenna, you mauy very wellhave signal levels too low to demodulate at the TV tuner.

To get 100% of available signal, you need an A/B switch on the antennas or some sort of special joiner to combine the antenna leads.

Anyone tried these newfangle antennas?
