I'm going to be putting a small outdoor uhf antenna (radioshack U-75R) in my attic and trying to decide how to mount it. Would a simple screw-in pipe base-flange and a wooden dowel from the hardware store suffice? The antenna is only 2.5lbs and 40" long.

Thanks,
Mitch

I used a piece of 3/4" PVC pipe screwed into the cross rafter and hung a VU-90 from the pipe. A flange and dowel would work just as well.
I have also used a spare satellite dish "J" bracket, just because it was available. It is way overkill, but is handy.

I bought a piece of 5 ft mast from RS and flattened one end with a sledge, drilled two holes in the flat part and screwed it to the rafter.
