Yea probably due to moca being in the 600 MHz Band.

Yes, I suppose it is only about 5.5 db per hundred feet or around 40 db in the run, plus another 15 db or so from the 8 way splitter. MoCA is output at 0 dbm so that would make it -55 dbm at the client in the man cave. That's below the -45 dbm spec, so it probably doesn't max out the test, but it only needs to deliver 5-10 Mbps for an HD channel.

It might even help to put the genie and the man cave on a 2 way, and then feed into a 4 way or 8 way.

That would add another 7-12 dB of signal to the man cave eliminating the high loss of the 8 way
