I called Dish today and upgraded to 622 and replace my 625.
Installation scheduled for 03/25/2006

Previously had AT120/Locals, HBO, SHO, Cinemax

Dish SilverHD w/ Locals $64.99
DVR Service Fee $5.98
DVR Lease Fee $6.00
Programming Access Fee $5.00
HBO & SHO $22.99

Total $104.96

Does that sound right?

Congratulations!
I hope you do not fall victim to what I experienced..

They should not be charging you a $5 programming access fee, but everything else is correct.

The access fee is probably for that I don't have a phone to connect to the receiver.

I got another question:

On the 622 it says:

Independently watch and record programming on two TVs.

TV1: View and record high definition or standard definition programming.

TV2: View and record standard definition or down-converted high definition programming.

On TV2, does it mean it records shows in HD on both tuners and it's only downconverting to watch on TV2 AFTER recording, OR does RECORD downconverted already and if you were to watch the recorded show on TV1, would it be HD or SD or downgraded HD there too. In other words, recordings from tuner 2, watched on TV1, what will it be?

It's recorded the format it's in. So if you record HD, it's recorded HD. Only the output of TV2 is downconverted, because there's no HD output there.

and you're right, if it's not hooked up to a phone, that's why the $5 fee is there

well plus the $11 in fees that you won't be able to avoid, you'll only save on the dvr service fee

Yeah it sucks that those fees don't show up on the dishtv order online site. Otherwise it would've only be a little more than 90 bux

I ordered my 622 on 2/12 and got offered a 3/7 install date, but I accepted 3/11, which was the next Saturday available. I am a totally new sub though, not sure if that matters.

Well it all depends on available installers and demand in your area. It just CAN'T be the same everywhere. I belive in metropolitan areas installers are more busy, and have more demand even though being in greater numbers. Here in the Oklahoma bushes, there might not be as many installers, BUT maybe not alot of people get dishes, and especially not concerning HD television.

I used to do a lot of dish installs covering half of the state for sbc, but most people wanted standalone hd receivers for locals only or else thought they were already getting hd because they had an hdtv. I hope you can get a signal there, KTUL limits their digital signal to the south to protect analog ch.10 from ADA, why I have no idea. Their signal does not go much past I-40. You might get abc from arkansas and probably KXII cbs from ADA-Sherman. They do a good job with the HD and have upn on the subchannel. I get it at my mom's ranch in ADA. PBS HD from Eufaula usually looks good. With a large antenna you will probably get most of the other Tulsa stations. Good Luck!

You are right on the money with this! I got a voom box for digital OTA and get KJRH, KOTV, FOX23, PBS Eufaula, KHBS Fort Smith. I also get KTFO, BUT only during the night, which makes no snse as they're on the same Tower as FOX23. On some clear nights I even get KWTV/CH9 from Oklahoma City and KTBO, BUT very seldom and only until sunrise.
I got me the CM3020 now, which is a Monster with a 160" Boom and will put it on my roof and then see what happens to KTFO. I got a 80" Boom Ratshack antenna now, that is mounted on the wall. Maybe the OTA tuner of the 622 does a better job than voom.

I recently ordered and got an install date of 3/21. Not sure I can believe it.

Did anybody ever get any kind of confirmation when they upgraded to 622 and the new HD programming by phone? I mean like tracking numbers for the receiver and such? Or was it just calling Dish, placing the order, get an installation date and then just waiting for something to appear at your house? Logging in to your online Dish account doesn't tell you anything about you ever placed an upgrade order.

Other folks asked for a tracking number, but couldn't get one.

They box just showed up at the door for them.

There might be a credit card charge of $299 listed under recent activity for the upgrade
