Hello,

I was looking into selling my DISH equipment on eBay. But, my equipment shows that it is owned by DISH and is under lease.

I haven't had dish service in over 3 years now. I had them for 2 years and then canceled with no fees. I don't believe I ever heard them say anything about the equipment, so I've just kept it and now cleaning out the house brought me in contact with it again.

What do I need to do? DISH is stating that it is theirs, but how could that be if they've never contacted me about it? I've never received anything else from them except that last bill.

I guess my main question would be...
Should I just throw the piece of crap away? It's obvious that DISH doesn't want it.

Thanks!

Don't know about the DP301 but I am surprised that they haven't charged you for not returning the 625. BTW I didn't know that the 625 was three years old. I thought that it was maybe 2 years old at the most.

In any case, the equipment does belong to them and you need to send it back. If you don't it will reflect negatively on your credit report and they can take legal action.

If they sent me a box I would send it back. BUT, I believe I'm lost in their system. I also haven't seen anything on my credit report.

Honestly, I would give it back, but I don't want to call them. DISH was downright awful with their customer service. I'm sure they would try and charge back fees for keeping the stupid thing.

That is why I would like to know how long is it theirs exactly?
Would it be their receiver forever, or for a few years until the contract becomes expired due to age?

If the contract expires it's still their equipment. You didn't enter a rent-to-own relationship.

I'd call 'em and ask for boxes to return the equipment.

If it really is a lease, whoever you sold one to wouldn't be able to activate it. I think you need to call Dish to get a ruling one way or the other. If they're leased, then Dish should send boxes to return the receivers.

I personally would let sleeping dogs lie. Just keep it, but dont sell it.

They havent contacted you about it for over 3 years. I doubt they would contact you now. On the other hand if you were to sell it and it were to be activated, it may flag somewhere.

Either way it's not wirth the hastle.
