See you "Settled" for a HR22 ....
If my HR20 died, I would NEVER accept a 22.

You downgraded in my opinion. I wouldn't have settled for anything less than a HR24.

wife did the talking on that deal.missed the ota but..
22 - 24 not a big deal imo 17 years of $$ big deal
spend it how you like .........can't take it with you.
add
one thing for sure after having a hr44 everything else was crap

So, how is the overall opinion of the HR44, many like it very much, are there people having issues with it in any area or are the bugs cleared up now ?

Tell me for sure, I thought I read that the 44 had a wireless card or whatever you call it built in to it ... this allows you to connect to the internet without having to run a cable to it ... is that correct, like my Sony BR player, no physical connection required ...

If so, this would free up a few wires from behind the TV ...

I never saw any bugs at all. The only thing that I didn't like was that it responds to RF and IR. So when I set up my Harmony to operate one of the other DVRs the HR44 was also being controlled. I had to give up on the idea of using the Harmony or just use it for the 44 but I like the new remote that comes with the 44 so I didn't want to do that. To tell the truth if I didn't know it was a 44 I wouldn't have noticed any difference between it and the DVR it replaced. 5 tuners are the only difference to me since I don't have a need for PIP.

Yes it has a wifi capability built in, replaces the CCK for the entire SWM network.

Software has been very stable over the past year, runs solid.

You can leave alone your SWM 8 LNB, since you use two in the RV. I'm sure the installer would be happy to take a LNB/switch change and just plug in a receiver and activate instead.
If you ever thing you'll want another receiver, or will ever bring the RV receivers in the house, then have them put in the SWM16, especially since it would be free as part of the install.

Ok, so if I do get this and they decide to use a SWM 16, .... I need to have a different LNB and 4 coax from the LNB ?

I guess it would be nice to have the flexibility ....

correct. 4 lines from the LNB to the switch. There are 2 outputs on the SWM16 that they can put splitters on for the receivers. Usually they would put the Genie on its own "leg" (output) on the SWM16 and the other receivers on the other "leg"

Sounds like a headache for something that I may never use.

If you only have one wire coming down from the LNB and no way to get extra wires into the house yeah it would be a headache

Nah, I have open access to the dish next to a flat roof, easy access, I might actually already have 4 lines coming down from my old SL5 set up and just using one currently.

I thought you said earlier that you had a SWM8 multi-switch,which would make it easier to just switching the SWM8 out for a SWM16 with power inverter switched out for a 29volt one. Do you have another dish set up(the SL 5 you mentioned) beside the one you are using?

I thought he was using a SWM LNB with only one line coming off of the dish, hence the need to use a 29v instead of the 21v PI....

I currently have a SWM3 with a SWM splitter (8) behind the TV connected to a 21v PI.

Well, I him hawed around enough ...

Just got off the phone with D* and am getting a HR xx .... Genie on Friday.

Well, I was gonna move the current HR24 from one side of the entertainment center to the other, so I can get the 44 where it will stay, however, I forgot I would need to move the AM21 as well, seeing this move is temp. I thought I'd leave the AM21 where it is and move the 24 , however I found that the cable used to connect the two is very short., maybe 2 feet, I need about 6 ft and the cable is nothing I can replace with a longer one ... UGH ...

So, I guess I'll take the HR24 out and sit it on top, instead of on the other side.
Not what I wanted to do.

Now that I have my HR44, I want to keep the Recordings from the 24 and the 44 separate ... I know this may sound odd, but I don't want one cluttering up the other ...

The Installer said thats not possible, that all shows would show on both.
I'm thinking there has to be a way.

I have no need to combine them, I have shows in one part of the house that I don't want on other areas.

If I just keep Block ON both shouldn't that do it ?

You can set up whole home to not share in the settings, or you can go into the list and select local playlist only on each DVR seperatelty. Or cancel the whole home service and save 3 bucks a month.
