Several members are reporting Directv giving Nascar Hotpass for free. I called to ask if they had any deals on Hotpass for the rest of the year, the CSR said I can give it to you for free. No threats just ask what deals did they have.

There are reports elsewhere that users trying to add the $29 package got a failure response.
I'd imagine it has something to do with users getting it for free if they ask for it.

I tried to signup last year and they would not give it to me but they gave me NFLST for free for the remainder. (but that started months of trying to get NFLST dropped off my account as it got auto renewes), but I digress!
Just tried to see what they would say and was told 29.95 for the rest of the season nothing about it being free.....
Just call, when the recording ask the reason for your call, say CANCEL SERVICE, the automatic operator switches you to RETENTION, when the rep answers just ask them what kind of deal do they have for HOTPASS, or how much, do threaten to cancel, just ask what kind of deal. If they say, $29 just say thanks and hang up. call back and get another rep.
I haven't been able to get any deals this season, but when I ordered last season, they gave me the last 16 races for $4.95.
jamieh is why it is so hard to get appropriate help from the retention team when needed, such as the fact there is no direct number anymore. A regular account rep can see if you qualify for free hotpass, no need to "go to the top".
