I recently had the Hopper w/Sling installed and the Joey isn't working. Two different techs have been here for a total of 10 hours and they couldn't get the Joey to work. They've tried 3 different ones with no luck. The Hopper downloaded the software fine but the Joey isn't downloading the software from the Hopper and can't find it to link to. Is there a way to start the process over and totally reset the Hopper and download all the software again? The tech told me it must be the wiring behind the wall but I tried hooking it up and bypassed my home wiring and its still not working. Plus the last dish receiver worked fine so I think the tech couldn't figure it out and just told me its the wiring.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem or if anyone has any suggestions. Its been like this for a week now and its getting ridiculous. Hopefully someone has some suggestions. Thanks.

Press menu 2x at the hopper. On system info, what is the available Joey SW listed at the bottom? Is there Joey SW listed?Press menu 2x at the Joey, what is the SW listed?

Available Joey SW is S282 and Joey software version is S054 ZADH. When the techs tried installing the Joey it would get stuck at the downloading software step and "Discovering..." was red at the top of the screen. The tech said it should be green.

Try disconnecting coax from the Joey, then remove power. Then leave coax disconnected and plug power back in. Once you see the booting screen, reconnect coax and let it boot. Give it a few minutes and see if that triggers anything.

I've been trying that for the past few days but it doesn't help.

Had a problem the other day with joeys not downloading, despite the fact of everything being new cable and parts. Hard reset on the hopper and Joey downloaded just fine. Have they replaced the node? How about trying the Joey line off a tap instead of the client port.

I've tried with and without the tap with no luck. Will a hard reset on the Hopper wipe it and cause it to download all the software again? I'm thinking I either need a new Hopper or to reset it back to the way it was before they installed it.

Unplug the hopper for 15 seconds from the power source. Let the hopper fully reset then try starting the Joey back up and get it to download. The red discovering on the top of the download means it didn't find the hopper. That alone should have been evidence to them theirs an issue, and to not leave it be. Try unplugging the Joey, hard reset the hopper, let it fully reboot, once it's up and watching live tv plug the Joey in and try to do the download again.

Thanks, I'll try this when I get home.

If the Joey is staying on red "discovering", the issue is between the node and the joey, or the tap and the joey. The common denominator would be the line. If you have the tap, put it behind the hopper and reconnect the hopper to the host port and the joey to the client port and see if it "discovers" then. The odds of having 3 bad Joeys is pretty slim.
