I have a Hopper with Sling receiver that connects an OPPO BDP-103D blu-ray player by HDMI and then HDMI out from the blu-ray player to my TV. The audio and video are out of sync, with the audio being behind the video on most channels. There is a AV Sync setting on the blu-ray player to delay by a fixed amount of time, but that doesn't solve the problem because the audio delay is not consistent.

If I connect the Hopper directly to my TV without going through the blu-ray player, everything is in sync, so I assume the Hopper is not the problem. I have contacted OPPO support several times and the final response I received is that they don't know what is causing my issue. Can anyone help me understand what could be happening that is causing the audio to be delayed?

The OPPO BDP-103D does some rather high end video processing, so my understanding is that the video processing in some way delays the audio... and the amount of delay can vary based on the amount of processing being done. But if that is the case, shouldn't the OPPO player be responsible for ensuring that the audio and video are synced the same when it sends output as they were when the signal came in? Are there other variables that I am missing? Are there any settings on the Hopper that could help?

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. OPPO is saying they can't help, but I can't find fault anywhere else, so I'm not sure how to proceed.

I don't actually have an amp in my setup. It is just a blu-ray player that also does video processing, then connects to the TV. Audio is coming through the TV speakers. I'm not sure that using an optical cable would make any difference and it would be difficult for me to test it, since I would need to fish cable through a wall to get it from the player to my TV. The problem seems to be more complicated because audio is BEHIND the video, which I think is the reverse of what would normally happen. My understanding is that typically it takes longer to process video, which can cause the video to get behind, but in my case I am seeing the opposite.

By amp I meant receiver or Blu-ray player etc. Usually when av sync issues happen, it's when hdmi is used, and even more common when an inline device is used.
