Hey Dish!!!! Fix the aspect ratio for Fuel!!!!!

He was right. They do need to fix the aspect ratio. They are doing it in sd widescreen like fox does for their sd sports now. Dish has it zoomed in so the ends are chopped off. You lose part of the picture, the round clock, and the UFC on fuel logo.

I did notice this as well and I submitted a technical problem report about it.

UFC prelims was the first time I have watched fueltv and the aspect ratio is all out of whack.Hope they get it fixed soon!

Is this the same aspect ratio you all are seeing?

That's how it is on mine, not a problem on the HDTV I have when format is on zoom. I think it's a problem on SDTVs when you choose full screen, it will cut the sides off. Then you can't see the round timers. This isnt a dish problem but a UFC production problem. They should move the timer bug/ icon into the 4x3 zone.

No that's not what I'm seeing. I have a 211 hooked to a new HDTV through HDMI on the eastern arc. I checked to make sure I don't have zoom on and I didn't. I have my 211 set to stretch SD content but I tried turning that off and I was still missing the same areas. The clock was almost completely missing from my picture. You could see part of the last number only. The UFC on Fuel Logo only showed UFC on F.

When Dish doesn't carry a game in HD on FSN Detroit the SD version shows correctly as letterboxed widescreen. Was that picture taken from a live recording of the event or a rerun? If it's from a rerun maybe Dish has already fixed the problem. Are you guys that saw the whole picture on EA or WA? Maybe it is only an EA problem.

EDIT: I haven't watched FUEL since the prelims on Saturday. Everything I said was about the live event on Saturday. I never watched the channel before they got the deal for UFC prelims and I don't see myself watching it for anytning besides those. For all I know the FUEL is fine and in 4:3 full screen for the rest of their programing.

EDIT #2: The picture is a little blurry but judging from those pink shorts that looks like the main event. The main event was on Fox live not FUEL. This makes me think that your picture is from a rerun of the Fox broadcast on Fuel. If that's true than it looks like Dish has fixed the aspect ratio sometime after the live event on Saturday and our problem is solved.

That's definitely not the problem. It is an SD only channel on Dish. An SD channel in Full Screen is 4:3 so Dish customers should be getting the same viewing area whether they have an SDTV or HDTV. If you wanted to see a full screen SD channel in full screen on an HDTV you would have to stretch the picture but that does not change the amount of the picture you see. It just stretches it.

If this were an HD channel on dish and people connected an HD Receiver like the 211 to a SDTV then your point would make more sense. If people connected this way used the format button to make the HD channel full screen on a SDTV then it would cut the ends off like you said.

nope thats not how it is here either.Doesn't matter how I format the receiver 612/722 there are still parts cut off such as the beginning of the clock and the logos in the upper right hand corner.Makes no difference if in black bar grey bar stretch partial zoom or zoom.

That is how it looks on my 612 in HD normal mode for some programs. Some are simply narrow and stretched out.

We're not talking about it being narrow or stretched looking. If you look at my post on the bottom of the previous page and some way back to the beginning of this thread you will see the real problem.

That picture is not how it looked when the event aired live on Saturday. The clock that shows how much time was left in the round is almost completely cut off. You could only see part of the last number on the clock. The UFC on Fuel logo cut of everything after the F on fuel.

The picture actually looked pretty good to me for SD. The part that was annoying was that you couldn't see how much time was left in the round or even what round it was.

I took the picture just prior to my post (photo is time stamped.) I did not watch the prelims on FUEL, but every time I turn to FUEL, I see the same aspect ratio as in the picture. I assume I'm on EA, how do I check this? My shows normally come off of sats 110, 119, and 129 (IIRC). I have a 211 in the living room, I'll see what the aspect ratio is on it tonight. Picture was taken from a 622 using HDMI.

If you have 110, 119, 129 you would have a WA setup. To check this you would need to go to the Point Dish and Signal Strength screen. (menu 6-1-1)

I am on EA and I noticed the problem on the prelims as well. I just checked this weeks fight card and the prelims are on FX before the PPV fight.

That would be Western Arc. This means that the problem only affects those of us on the Eastern Arc or dish has fixed the problem sometime after the fights took place on Saturday

I saw and read your post. On my TV I see what he sees, and it looks to me like the HD feed but in SD. Some programs are narrow and stretched which I don't remember seeing before. As I am writing this I did see one commercial have the ends cut off, it was for an upcoming live event I think.

You must have posted while I was typing. I didn't mean to say the same thing as you right after you said it.

This is good though. I wish they would put all of the prelims on FX instead of Fuel so we could get them in HD. It would be nice if they would put most of the main cards on FX or Fox instead of PPV from now on. I would think the ratings have to be huge on network or cable channels compared to PPV.

I am on Eastern Arc, and I can confirm that I am still seeing the 4x3 aspect ratio. So the problem might be isolated to the Eastern Arc.

My 211, using component video cables to a EDTV, in the living room has the same aspect ratio as my picture from the bedroom. I'm getting the feed from sat 110.

i also would like fuel in hd or if its easier just have supercross moved back to speed oh and please have them remove ricky carmichael as a race commentator. and more screen time for the monster energy girls. wow. thanks, this is easy
