Hello everyone. I have an old, unknown to me, ku rotor that I can't identify the make/model nor get working. I was hoping someone could provide some insight to what I have.

The manual east/west buttons work, but no matter what settings I put into my gtmedia v8x box, it doesn't respond/move. Thanks

Looks similar to the one I have.

If you're using USALS, you need to populate your local latitude and longitude. I expect without those, the receiver wouldn't be able to construct a valid command.

Do you have a DisableLimits command in you receiver? Have you tried that, and after that checked again?
You also tried GoLeft or GoRight (GoEast or GoWest) commands from your receiver, with no effect?

How did you test:
With short cable or long? If long, then try also with short cable.
With LNB cable attached to the other motor terminal, or not? If LNB connected, try without connection.

It looks like an SG-2100 or similar. I think I can just see the small hole beside one of those rubber grommets. One grommet hides the manual west-east button. The other one that has the small hole is where you insert a paper clip. With the cable from your receiver connected and the receiver on (power applied to the motor), press the hidden button with the paper clip to reset the motor. Do it a couple of times. You will see the light on the motor flash yellow and then revert back to green. Doing this has brought my motor back to life in the past.

press the hidden button with the paper clip to reset the motor.

Extra hint:
It is written that a 'reset' sets the present motor position as the 0-position (needed for USALS position setting).
So it might be best to do such a reset, with motor at zero-angle.
(No experience with resets, myself, though.)

I double checked and everything is setup correctly in the receiver. I even pulled out an old viewsat vs2000 to test with and got the same (non-responsive) result from the rotor.

Thank you! I used to come here often, but its been over 5 years.

I cleared the limits and tried again, no go. I tried using Diseqc 1.2 and usals protocols and neither worked.

With short cable or long? If long, then try also with short cable.

I cut about 10 feet of coax and crimped on new connectors to get rid of that variable.
I tried with and without the LNB connected.

I was wondering if the receiver was, for some reason, unable to send the diseqc commands so I tried a 4x1 Diseqc switch with success, so I know the receiver is capable them down the wire.

I looked up SG-2100 and I think that's the exact same one that I have. Thanks for helping me identify it!

I popped off the rubber grommets and looked for a reset button, but couldn't find one. A green LED lives down in that little reset hole.

Not sure what else to do except maybe take it apart and look for obvious damage to the circuit?

Thank you everyone for your responses

So, all tests about limits, motor commands, and receiver-motor connection didn't bring anything.
That would leave receiver software, or motor as cause.
But you already swapped receiver, which rules that out as well.
This would indeed leave the motor itself, as cause, I think.

I'm not familiar with that motor, but there really should be a reset button inside? Have you tried, with a small metal pin?
Otherwise, I would indeed open the motor housing, to check the insides.

Have you checked the output voltage on the STB?
There would be motor voltage, or the manual buttons wouldn't work.

Not to belabour the point, but is it possible that light IS the reset button? I've never removed the grommets so I'm not sure if my light is in that hole. Its illumination may shine sideways so it appears the light is behind the grommet with the grommet in place.

Many motors without manual reset buttons allowed the user to perform a reset at the motor using the East / West buttons.

Drive the motor to the centered "zero" position.

Remove the motor power.

Press and hold both East and West buttons while restoring the power.

Continue holding both buttons for 5 or more seconds until the LED flashes multiple times, indicating that the motor has been reset to factory settings,

Note: some motors require a STB or programmer to issue a "Reset" command. Most STBs do not issue this reset command, but a PCIe or USB DVBS tuner with PC software can issue the reset DiSEqC command.

Ah, that is interesting: the SG2100 indeed seems to exist with, and without reset button: SG-2100 Motor Referencing
I didn't know that.

Edit: NB In some manuals I read that after the reset, power must be cutoff:
Please cut off the power for the motor first before any operation.
