I have the Samsung 360 HD
if i were to deactivate the receiver with directv, will i still receive the Firmware updates ?
I just wanna use it as an OTA tuner in moms bedroom, dont want drill any more holes in house

i know i would need to unhook it once in a while to bring it to the living room to connect to the dish to recieve the firmware update


And lastly, if i upgrade to TC Premier, i can call Directv's retention dept and get a special discount, i think its $20 each month for 6 months or is it $5 each month for 6 months ? i forgot
or anyone who has gotten more credits then that, speak up, lol

I am not sure on the Samsungs but the newer receivers will download even if they are active or not. Actually you are suppose to download an update before activation.

I don't think D* is supporting anything but their own branded receivers.
