And let me tell you, if you just think you're gonna plug it in and watch TV, don't be fooled. I got mine installed today, and I tried the Twinhan software...there are 19 MILLION options to do everything but light my cigar and put splenda in my coffee. Holy crud how confusing! its gonna take me MONTHS to figure this out!

LOL... ditch the Twinhan software. TSReader for feed hunting and 4:2:2 watching. DVBDream for the rest.

DVB Dream was more confusing than the stinkin Twinhan software! I could not figure out how to tell DVBD how to find a transponder even.. Grrrr....this is so much BS...not everyone wants 19 million different configurations to choose from...satellites from all over the danged world, instead of selecting a region of the world and then the software deleting the satellites that aren't viewable from where you are....

I selected AMC3 in DVB Dream and all it gave me to choose from is C-band TP's! So I can't scan ANYTHING!

Then get rid of the INI's from the satellites you don't want. The manual scan works. Just put in your own numbers. I actually found DVBDream to be one of the easiest to use and I can tell you I've used just about all of them

Jaysus tapdancing on a dime....iF DVD Dream is the easiest, maybe PC card ain't for this coonass...NONE of this make sense...click transponders, no KU. Click add, put the TP freq in, IT WONT SAVE THE DAMN THING!

So signal strength, no signal quality, this SUCKS!

Setup the LNB, what's all the freq's for? Why three? Its 10750. why the other two fields?

nothing is easy the first time

MyTheatre is a SOB the first time.
I've had it running on both USB receivers and PCI cards.
It may be the best, but a lot of the setup is magic, and I'm not vouching for its stability.

DVBdream, once I got a PCI card and was able to try it, and ONCE you get past the whole different interface, is actually easier to set up.

HOWEVER, I just ordered an FTA stand alone box due to frustration over several years with all of the above.
I suspect that won't be so hard, because of all the neglect and abuse I've suffered with the computer based solutions.

Yes, both programs have signal strength and quality, and DVBdream has CPU usage, if I recall.
...right out there under your nose, not hidden in a menu...

While I've been happy with Standard Def, I must say I'm not fully operational in HD !
Tonight, I'll be reviewing interrupts, and cpu-loading, and other fun things.
I've already doubled my signal strength by increasing dish size and going to a better LNB.

Well , if you're going to talk Standard Def instead of HD, you should really open a new thread for the PCI card.
And yes, 148 is a nice clean source of some setup-signals to get ya going. :)

Slow down...slow down. USB/PCI DVB is a little more of a bear to handle but trust me..it is worth the effort.

What is your setup? is it slaved to another box? do you have any diseqc switches? what kind of lnb is hooked up to the card?

Let's see if I can start this out here...

Once you get DVBDream started go to Options.
If you have a diseqc with stationary dishes set them up under diseqc.
Also add any dishes you'd like to use if you have a motor under the diseqc port they will be on when the motor is in position.
Be sure to setup the correct LNB type when you add the satellite! If it is a legacy circular LNB for music on 119. Be sure to add the correct satellite and set the LNB to NA legacy. The LOF1 will automatically set to 11250000. Recognize this number when you setup up DVB set top box?

Let me know when you get this far...

Sorry for the threadjack...

Its just that the software isnt intuitive at ALL....

I am exhausted tonight.....thanks for the pointers, digiblur is gonna help me out by phone....

For a standard KU lnb, choose KU-circular. Its a default 1075. As far as scanning, I always do a manual scan when a feed shows up (BS with the Fortec Classic). Hit the check box and wait for it to lock, then scan. The thing with DVBdream is that it won't save the tp, unless you save a channel there too. It will keep the tp in if you delete it...so kinda strange but ok if you remember. You can add the tp in the INI file too (as sugessted earlier).

The only main prob I've add with Twinhan and DVBdream is the installation. It was a pain in the a$$ for me on two different PC's. It would load the Twinhan software(i.e the MOST usless software on my pc!!) and drivers. Everything is fine, XP wise, but when I loaded DVBdream, it wouldn't detect the card (i.e under options>device options, everything had a ?). If i load MT, then DVBdream will work! Very strange and frustrating.

DVBdream (once installed) is pretty easy to navigate. The best part IMO is video graphing. Never have a prob with 4.2.2 or HD. If I could ever find some good graphs (or learn to make one) for MT for 4.2.2 & HD, then I may give MT another run

After a little conversation with digiblur, we got it going...turns out it was the LNB L.O. selection that I was mucking up.....thanks Digi!

Now I am off to look for codecs...the nero codec I have now doesn't work too well....

Keep the ideas coming, they are all appreciated!

Here are older Nvidia v. 2.27 codecs that work very well.

Questionable attachment.... aren't these codecs copyrighted material you are supposed to purchase? If someone can prove me differently I'll approve the attachment.

The ini files contain the sats and transponders . If you PM me with your email address , I will email a zip file with all the ini files I have .

These codecs are from 4 years ago and Nvidia has changed to thier "purevideo" codecs and has abandoned these. If you want to delete them, fine. I was trying to help someone that needed a quick fix on running HD.

No problem... thanks for the clarification. I didn't want NVidia knocking on Scott's door. ;)

Yes, picking ku circular in order to get linear ku in dvb dream was confusing for me too until I noticed the 10750 in there... most usually when people talk about circular ku they are talking about dbs stuff on echostars here in the USA... guess it's different over wherever the heck the folks are from that made this thing..

Actually I think I used the "legacy" option and inputted 10750000 in that box and it worked. I am not sure about that, as I am outside smoking a cigar and typing this on my wife's laptop...but I think thats what I did...since Digi straighted me up it's been fine...:up
