I have done some searching on this subject, but not finding any information on my specific need. Hoping someone here can help (if such is possible).
Many years ago I ran four good quality, quad shielded cables from my computer desk to where my TV is in the living room, the cables being about 30 feet long. With these I am able to have stereo audio from the computer to my audio system, and an S-Video connection to the television. For many years a I have enjoyed watching online video in the comfort of my living room, including things like free Hulu videos and even rented movies.
Earlier this year I upgraded to an HDTV. I am still able to watch videos from the computer, but as one might expect the video quality of the s-video connection leaves something to be desired. I want to be able to keep doing this but with higher quality video, since there are a lot of things that are not available (for free at least) with the TV or Blu-ray player's apps.
I am considering getting a new computer which just happens to have an HDMI output, so here is my question: Is there any type of cable or adapter that will allow the HDMI signal to be split into the four existing cables, then reconstituted on the TV end back to HDMI?
I am well aware of other possible solutions, such as sending video over the home IP network (already doing that some where possible) and the possibility of simply running a long HDMI from one room to another, but I want to rule out the easy solution before going the next step, and those things are not the subject of this post. I also know there are other solutions for getting some of the video content we want directly on the TV, but there are some things we have on the computer that we want to be able to see directly on the TV screen.
Any answers to my question appreciated.
