HD-DVD PLAYER $98.87!! at WalMart

Total yawn at the one I went to. 5 people in line for 30 players. 30ish laptops and maybe 10 were sold while I was there. Very civil and quiet.
Same here. Out of the dozen people in line, I was the only one picking-up a Toshiba HD DVD Player...everyone else picked-up an Acer laptop. There were still plenty of both to be had when I left the store, and nobody was standing in line. I only bought one since I prefer BD and have two PS3s, but it's getting a little annoying when a particular title is exclusive to one format (i.e. Ratatouille only on Blu-Ray 11/6, Shrek the Third only on HD DVD 11/13), plus, the five free HD DVDs to boot!

People on other forums have been able to order from here:

Best Buy For Business - Product Detail

I picked mine up today at walmart (#29/30). Luckily they had a limit one per customer because the guy in front of me wanted to buy the last 3... now if only the 5 free discs were better films.

The Best Buy link says "this product is not available". Leaving for WalMart right now and will post my experience. :)

Couldn't get it. Got there at 8:01 AM by the time I got to Electronics there was a line of about 50 people. I asked about the HD-DVD player that they only had 10 and they had already given out the tickets for them. :(

Thank goodness the people at this particular Wal-Mart couldn't spell HD DVD. When I left the store at 8:25am with my new player, there were 29 of the 30 still left on the stack.

That's what made me mad, this store is in Mountain View right next to Palo Alto the heart of the Silicon Valley you'd think they would have more than 10.

Check your local Best Buy or Circuit City. You may still be able to get a price match.

Circuit City only had the HD-A20 and Best Buy in my area ran out yesterday when I checked. I just don't know where else to look for. I thought someone said Crutchfield matched the Walmart price.

Just added it in the Crutchfield cart and it's $129.99 but I want them to match the Walmart price.

Just got my confirmation email from BB for a similar deal. A3 @ $199 + 7 movies. Looking forward to picking it up. Thanks for the info!

I went to Walmart at 10am after waiting on hold 30 minutes to make sure they had some at 9am.

On the phone they said they had 20 and they were selling very slow. When I got there at 10 there were still 20.

I only bought one, thought about 2 but I only really watch movies in my home theater, so I only bought the one.

The $15 movie selection wasn't anything special, but I picked up a couple anyway.

Wasn't there a rebate for 5 free movies? Is that still going? <Nevermind, found earlier in the thread - thanks Mike1973>

Arrgh, just asked in a Chat session and they told me they don't match the Walmart price.

I mentioned that BB and CC are also doing the matching and she's checking for me, but I'm wondering if she'll shut me down when she can't find it on those sites anymore and it's only Walmart - and they know they're all sold out.

There are several places on Amazon.com that are selling them around $130 + shipping. It's not $99, but I may go that way anyway, now that I've got myself psyched up to get one.

Anyone still looking for one should call the Walmarts in their area at this point - they simply weren't selling where I live, although it is a smaller market. I know there are 5 Walmarts in a 30 mile radius for me, and the first one I called had them.

Crutchfield has it for $129.99, they dropped the price while I was chatting with them but I want the $98.87 price. :)

THe good thing with eveyone lowering prices I think we will see the $99 price point regularly throughout holiday 2007 season.
