Is it possible to have HBO with a coolsat hd 8000 - what would i need to buy other than the coolsat?

Thank you for your response. What is the purpose of a coolsat 8000? What can I do with it?

I know this thread is about HBO, but based on your previous post, maybe this info will help...

Here is are a couple of good lists on what you might expect to receive using an FTA receiver legally.
At least on Ku band (3' dish)

FTAlist
Global-CM

As for hi def, I think PBS makes up the bulk of what's available.
Hunting "feeds", may get you some special events, field news reporting, sporting events...

Unless you are interested in C-band satellites (the 8..10 foot dishes), that's about it.

Thank you for all of the helpful info - I'm sure I will be back with more questions after I research a bit - Thanks again!

HBO is normally a digicipher 2 (motorola) signal and cannot be seen with a FTA receiver even if it was in the clear.

You need a c-band 8' dish or larger with a dsr-922 and a subscriptions through a program provider.
