I think I read that there was a Free Preview of HBO this weekend and does it start Friday and also does it include HD, which was not the case with Showtime?

What seems more suprising to me is the lack of anything to watch on these free preview weekends - like the Showtime preview last time. Maybe it was just me, but there were really few/no movies that were worth 2 hrs. of my time.

I Realize that's not E*, it's the channels themselves - but you'd think they would time their free previews to be on a weekend with some new movies, or crowd-pleasers, or something!

That is confusing, you would think they would put on their best shows and movies to try and hook you.

That said, without HD, I likely won't watch anything. I never thought I would be an HD snob, but I can't start watching too many new shows that aren't in HD anymore.

Exactly what we thought!

But after we got over the dissapointment, we realized Dish & ShowTime had done us a big favor by showing what we could really expect as subscribers, which we won't be after seeing how weak their normal programing is :)

AFAIK even the "premium" movie channels suffer from the basic flaw in Cable / Satellite TV -- too little quality content spread over too many channels.

I still enjoyed catching two episodes of Weeds and two episodes of Dexter on the last Showtime, even if they weren't in HD. Maybe I'll be able to catch some Sopranos episodes in this free preview run.

I hope they are turned on already, since I scheduled a recording for 7AM... but I am not home to check it.

Oh good. Now my receiver is stuck on an unsubscribed channel until either they turn it on or I get home to unstick it.

The only thing I care to see is on this afternoon. If they don't turn this on soon, I'll miss it. That sure won't sell me on buying HBO...

i know i see mr and mrs smith is on tonight and i would like to see it. i really don't understand what dishnetworks problem is about turning on the free preview early.

This is what I found on the Dish Network Channel Chart.....looks like the channels wont be turned on until this evening sometime.

The HBO Free Preview channels on 288-296 are warming up but not available to subscribers yet. They should come on Thursday evening.

Any indication whether HD will be part of the preview? I know, in the past previews, the HD was included, so if not, like Showtime, wonder why not? Hope I am wrong.
