H3 Pre-Installation Questions

Upgrading tomorrow from my hopper to H3. Couple of questions.
Will the H3 recognize my external hard drive currently hooked to my hopper? I'm hoping I won't have to reformat. I have numerous recordings I would like to transfer over.

Also, is there anyway to save the settings on my 40.0 remote to transfer the timers to my new H3?

Yes and yes.
The H3 should automatically detect the EHD.

The settings are backed up to the remote by the Hopper you have. You will have to unpair that 40.0 remote and pair it with the H3. Then you can perform a restore.
