I've had my 522 over a year and had very few problems, The one thing I just cant understand is why Dish treats all shows with the current year date as new. This is enoyng, I end up recording a lot of repeats. TV Guide as no trouble identifying repeats from the same year.
Can someone explain this to me?
Thanks

It's just what dish decided to do.

Apparently the thought that the "New." take at the end of the info reading wasn't accurate enough and wasn't always included in new shows.

I know, but it still bogles my mind. TV guide just puts an R for repeat.
It is a bit of a pain. The best work-around I've used is to every day or two, go into the timers list and look at what's set up to record, read the description, and if it doesn't say "New" or have this current year, and/or it sounds like something you've seen, tell it to "skip". On name based recordings, you sometimes have to do that twice if it's a show that repeats again later in the day or the week, as it may un-skip (restore) an identical episode. This is common with a lot of Discovery, A&E, and FX programs.

This is not fool-proof, though... I've found things later in the timers I'm sure I told it to skip, and it has recorded things I thought I had skipped. Argh.
