Google Scores NFL Sunday Ticket Package

The good news about this NFLST ad campaign with YTTV, I believe it makes it pretty unlikely that we will get a price increase this year.
Well, I probably will since they DirecTV gave it to me for free the past couple of years!
Regardless, I will be money ahead since my bill is cut in about half after dropping DirecTV and going streaming full time.

New media platform announced to manage business licensing of Sunday Ticket to participating satellite and cable providers for distribution to bars, hotels, restaurants, etc.

edit: release - NFL and RedBird Capital Partners Announce Formation of New Venture to Deliver Sunday Ticket to Commercial Establishments

So for commercial establishments its cable and satellite?...sounds like another middleman..funny it doesn't mention streaming

It's now the brand that handles all of the business licensing for Sunday Ticket, instead of locking that into a single provider like DirecTV. Between the deal at Google and this platform no reason to think they don't have all bases covered, including streaming where applicable if such service exists and wants to license it.

REALLY ????

We have to go to TWITTER of all places to get the NEWS ....

How stupid ....

Fwiw, I don't see Anything about it on the NFL Website.
You'd Think, news like that would be all over the site.

I literally linked to the NFL's press website. It's not of much consequence to consumers, so no reason to plaster it all over nfl.com or anything. Much more important news today coming out of the owners meetings with rules changes and stuff anyways.

And Twitter is the best aggregator of real time news if you know how to use it.

It just means that directv business division will buy the product from this entity instead of directly from the NFL..if the NFL wants commercial establishments..much like apple found out..they can't really bypass directv...cable companies can compete in their franchised area but at the end of the day directv has the most commercial business sports accounts

For commercial establishments, the fractionalization of sports from broadcast and cable networks to streaming services presents potential challenges that EverPass Media is looking to solve by essentially creating a bundle of sports content through a single streaming platform.

Having six different apps on three different televisions is not really a solution that scales,” said RedBird managing director Kevin LaForce.

There would be bandwidth issues and latency issues” if a sports bar were to use a single, traditional streaming subscription, Mr. Kaplan said.

Why solve a problem that doesn't exist?..Directv has been doing a great job with commercial accounts

Except it looks like DirecTV did not want to make the deal with the NFL ( they wanted $200 Million for the business/commercial rights), too much $$$ for them right now.

Right now, DirecTV is in penny pinching mode, hoping for a merger or a sale , if those options do not work out, make as much $$$$ till the end.

So now, hoping to make a deal with Redbird, the deal might be similar to how they carry HBO for example, Redbird would get 70-80% of the Revenue, DirecTV the rest.

Because the NFL is all about greed. Greed is why they play on Thursdays. Greed is why they play at the crack of dawn in England. Greed is why they play 17, soon 18 games. Greed is why they play exhibition games. Greed is why they have round after round of playoffs. Greed is why they have "flex" scheduling (shout out to the Giants owner who killed that for Thursday night games, but they will be back for it soon, too greedy). Greed is why they threaten to move teams to more and more ridiculous AAA sized small cites. Greed is why 25 year old stadiums are supposedly "out of date". Greed.

They admit, as if anyone didn't already know this, that the internet cannot get it done. Duh. So they could have simply made a reasonable deal with DirecTV, which is already in every sports centered business already, where the NFL made some money and DirecTV made some money. But that is not how the NFL operates. It wants all the chips.

So, now the ball is in DirecTV's court. It can pay to be a "non-exclusive" distributor, and lose money doing it. Or it can enter into a war where the NFL partners with cable, and/or Cheap Charlie, trying to take over the sports bar business. Since they certainly cannot sign up every cable system in the country, and, even if they did, lots of businesses are in non-residential areas not wired for cable, many will miss out. And Cheap Charlie's Pluto like service is a non-starter relative to every other sport, meaning two dishes, two bills, two receivers.

The loser is the fan. As always. Greed.

I liked your Post, I would Frown the fact that Greed IS the reason for the NFL's actions ... as always.

Not the NFL. A short history of the future:

- The NFL has only not played on Fridays because the government won't let it. They will push and push until it does.
- The NFL has only not played on Saturdays out of deference to its AAA league, the NCAA. As the NCAA becomes openly professional, the NFL will invade that space as well.
- The NFL knows that western people will watch football on Sunday mornings. So why wouldn't eastern people? More games, eventually every week, in Europe and thus in a third time slot for the USA.
- Then NFL knows that eastern people will stay up until past midnight to watch football. So why wouldn't western people? More games, eventually every week, as "doubleheaders" on Monday and eventually Sunday nights, with the second game running well into the night, the Pacific Time night.
- The NFL has cajoled its lapdog union into Thursday night games, and now has broken its promise of only one game per team per year. Now its two. Eventually unlimited. Meaning the nationally popular teams will very rarely play on regular Sunday 1:00 slots.

And, as to this issue:

- The NFL and its venture capital buddies, will launch some sort of system, which will be internet based, meaning the white circle of buffering will be its main product, which will aggregate all the internet based sports into one dongle for commercial businesses. Making a mark up on every sale. Big outfits, like BWW or the casinos and such, will pay up. Mom and pop will mostly just ignore them and use personal accounts. Of course, many places won't be able to get service at all. The NFL doesn't care.

You have some strange thinking there.

The People stay up , because they are FORCED to in order to see the end of thier games.

IF they were smart, they would START games at 7 pm so games are finished before the local news is on.
However, the NFL with thier GREED, theres that word again, will do everything in thier power to push the people as far as they can and get away with it ....

Personally, I have NEVER gotten up to watch a Game in Europe or where ever its playing next ... And I'm gonna say, they DO NOT have very good ratings either ...
Someday the NFL will come to thier senses and do away with the stupid Eurpoean idea that Football means something over there ... thier idea that they would for teams over there and compete with those here, is another STUPID idea.

Not everything the NFL does is right.
Very little of it is for the Fan.

You could always just move to the central time zone

Now to see if there will be bandwidth issues. Like buffering errors. Bet that'll happen when the 2023 season starts.
