Goodell wants more games to add 'value' to NFL schedule

I'm all for it as a fan. Maybe they could also cut pre-season back to only 2 games instead of 4 also.

I can see the players wanting to renegotiate all of their contracts now though.

I have a feeling the upcoming labor agreement, is going to be an intresting one.

Owners crying that with the economy, salaries must change

Players newly armed with a Four Billion Directv rights TV agremment

Who proposed a longer schedule the 72 Dolphins? This will ensure that no one EVER goes undefeated. Now they can have their champagne parties forever.

Let them drink, they were the best team of another era. My money would have been on any of last years playoff teams, if they played the '72 Dolphins.

I'm all for it as long as the "extra" games that count come form the pre-season (which is too long). I am on the very edge of being able to afford my season ticket as it is!

I'm with ya there, pal!!!...If I hadn't of gotten the tax refund I did this year, I was on the verge of giving up my Colts tickets, which I don't want to do, since I've had them since they came to town...

And I heard them talking on Dan Patrick's show today, that the plan was to cut down on the pre-season games to make room for the extra games they want, but a lot depended on the players contracts talks and the media contracts that run out in 2011...

The NFL risks its creditability in this move.

Where are they going to go? Earlier, when it is dangerously hot and people are on vacation? Later, pushing even later into the dead of winter?

Who asked for this? Certainly not the Market.

If they shorten the preseason, then there is no change in when they play their games. Hell they have the hardest part of training camps and preseason are during the hottest part of the summer already. Schools on most of the country go back during the third week of August (Week of exhibition season). In Ohio the High School football season starts the third Friday in August. I know this because I usually have to miss one or two preseason pro games because I am covering the high school games.

So the excuse of being during vacation time, or too hot to play if they remove two preseason games and add one or two regular season games makes no sense.

I don't know how I feel about this. Records will be broken and I think that some of the ones set in a 14 games season that still haven't been broken will then be broken and there should be a designation that they had a full 4 more games in which to do it.

I would love the NFL to add 2 games and start the season in August. August is the worst month of the year (I live in florida, everyone knows August and September is awful here). The is nothing on TV except a bunch of steroid shooting baseball players.

Some teams play 5 pre season games.
I could see them going to 3 pre season and then start the season.

I would like for example them to start the next year August 30th, this would make it before Labor Day, which the seem to want to keep pushing it out to that weekend.

It could add some "Value" to those season ticket holder who must buy those pre season games as part of there package.

I am on the fence on this, I love football, but starting earlier kind of takes away from the start of "Fall" feeling I get. I guess I would have to see how much earlier they would want to start

I don't think they are planning on starting earlier. More like extending into February. The plan may be to convert one or two of the exhibition games into regular season games.

Heavy rumors of Calipari to Kentucky....

Would this had happend if the player was Wes Welker?
