Good time to switch? Best deal?

It seems a few months back Direct was offering better deals. Is now a bad time to switch from Dish? Is there anything aside from doing a friend referral I can do now to get the best deal?

Call and ask would seem to be the best way. There may be offers that you aren't aware of.

Yes, calling in and asking what the best deal is and then trying to get a little more, additional programming, additional HD receiver with no upfront lease fee, etc is the best way to approach it. You can sometimes find gift cards deals through Costco, Best Buy, or HH Gregg (like sign up through them and get $150 - $200 in gift cards from the retailers). Referral bonus is $10 off for 10 months. AAA also has a deal, $10 off for 24 months I believe. Some people have had luck staking that discount with the referral discount but you need to call the specific numbers for each of those deals and do it in a specific order prior to installation.
