Hard to decide if I want to go back to a hopper 3 and the flex plan or sign up with DirecTV now stream service.

Sent from my Pixel using the SatelliteGuys app!

Streaming is more of an option than it ever was, but if you do decide to go that route, I would not at this time recommend Directv Now. I would look first at PS Vue , and after that at Sling Tv.

isnt there a free 30 day trial of directv now in another thread?

free cant be beat for a test

I would still be with PSVUE but channels I watched had multiple problems and not just a few. Between no streaming rights (black outs) and channels messed up for as long as 24 hours totally unwatchable. QC is really bad IMO with nobody monitoring the streams from what I can tell and relying on the public complaints but make it difficult to contact them during certain hours so problems go unresolved.

Directv Now was a total joke when I tried it out for the couple months I did. It was nowhere close to being ready for prime-time, just the fact they released garbage nationwide without any testing prior makes it untrustworthy unless totally desperate.

My decision was go back to the Hopper 3, its great and far better than anything else and don't regret it.

Seems like an easy answer, try Directv Now - or SlingTv - or any of them first see what you think. None of them require contract and you know it will cost more and require a contract with the Hopper. (Unless you pay alot for no contract) If none of them are good enough you have your answer.

I went with PS Vue and have been very happy. No pixelation here. We have 60MBPS up and 3 streams going with no prob. Give it a shot with the free trial.

I wanted to like Sling but it would buffer all the time.

I get no pixelation with Vue either, and with an internet feed thats right at half your speed, three and four streams at once doesnt give me the slightest issue as well.

I also tried Sling, a couple of times, and to begin with I had buffering issues too. I gave it another try not to long ago, and the problem was mostly resolved. With the new guide addition, it would be my next choice if I dropped Vue for some reason.

The one nobody has mentioned is Hulu. It could be a real contender, but the way they structure it, it is hard to tell if you are watching live tv or something from the Hulu library. Some may like it, as it is pretty seamless, but I found it hard to find live tv (such as sports) quickly.
