'Justified' Postmortem: Graham Yost Breaks Down that Epic Brawl in 'Fugitive Number One' https://www.yahoo.com/tv/justified-mikey-katherine-death-scene-115159611665.html
Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched the March 31 episode of Justified — “Fugitive Number One,” written by Taylor Elmore and Keith Schreier and directed by Jon Avnet — stop reading now. As he’ll do throughout the season, showrunner Graham Yost takes us inside the writers’ room to dissect key scenes and tease what’s next. This week, we learn how that fight scene in Wynn Duffy’s Winnebago came together, which marshals almost met their maker in the hour, and how long it took Walton Goggins to master that hat trick.

‘Justified’ recap: Only one episode to go, and everything is insane http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/style-blog/wp/2015/04/07/recap-of-justified-collateral/

Justifying Raylan: The Importance of the Elmore Leonard Character http://www.wordandfilm.com/2015/04/justifying-raylan-the-importance-elmore-leonard-character/
There's a great scene about two-thirds of the way through a recent episode of the current and final season of "Justified."In it, Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, skillfully played as always by Timothy Olyphant, has just pulled up to a house where his series-long nemesis (and occasional ally) Appalachian outlaw Boyd Crowder, equally deftly portrayed by Walton Goggins, is staying. Crowder rushes out to meet Givens and the two quickly begin a verbal sparring match (fueled mainly by Crowder's desire to keep Givens from finding a wanted fugitive hiding inside) in which Givens reveals that the only thing keeping him from moving on to live with his ex-wife and baby in Florida is his vow to finally bring Crowder down."This is one of them classic stories where the hero gets his man and he rides off into the sunset," Givens says.

‘Justified’s’ Joelle Carter: Talking (but not telling!) about the finale http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...ter-talking-but-not-telling-about-the-finale/
Actress Joelle Carter has been everybody’s favorite femme fatale in “Justified” for six years and 78 episodes. As the FX cult-favorite series comes to an end on Tuesday, the fate of her character, Ava, is still in question — she’s caught halfway between Boyd and Raylan. Carter, 42, has an offscreen life that doesn’t much resemble that of Ava’s. She lives in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles with her husband and their 4-year-old daughter, Luna. We caught up with her by telephone early on a recent morning, just as Luna was waking up. We heard barking in the background, which she explained was the family terrier, Waffles. Which led us to our first question.

'Justified' Cast and Showrunner Reminisce Ahead of Series Finale at Paley Panel https://www.yahoo.com/tv/justified-paley-panel-series-finale-justified-115950576375.html
With just the series finale of Justified to go, we’ll soon find out who gets to leave Harlan alive. And judging from an audience poll at Wednesday night’s “Evening With Justified” panel at the Paley Center for Media, it won’t be Boyd Crowder.Showrunner Graham Yost joined stars Timothy Olyphant, Joelle Carter, Erica Tazel, and Jacob Pitts to reflect on six seasons of FX’s coolest show. (Walton Goggins is filming Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight and Nick Searcy is currently in Japan.)Among the fun things you’ll learn in the full replay above: Both Pitts and Tazel went to Yost and said they’d like their characters, Deputy U.S. Marshals Tim Gutterson and Rachel Brooks, to die great Justified deaths in the final season; exactly how Olyphant pitched certain scenes, including the Season 2 one in which Coover Bennett’s beloved pet Charlie got shot; the melody of the (faux) Constable Bob spinoff theme song Olyphant and Patton Oswalt spent a day on set writing (Yost confirmed Bob lives!); how sad Olyphant is that he didn’t know about the car chase scene Yost had wanted to film this season between Raylan and Gutterson and Walker and Choo Choo (EW.com animated it below); who was the most emotional person on set as the series wrapped (cue everyone pointing to Yost, who admitted he sobbed); how a pair of Ava’s underwear almost got a man in trouble with his wife in real life; and how loudly everyone in the room laughs when a panelist (Pitts) needs to excuse himself to use the restroom. As for the series finale, the most solid tease we got was that we will hear “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive” again. The Justified series finale airs April 14 at 10 p.m. on FX.

Saying Goodbye to Justified: Finale Predictions, Series Superlatives, and General Worship https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/saying-goodbye-justified-finale-predictions-150400543.html
After 78 episodes' worth of Southern poetry and Kentucky crime, Justified is signing off for good this week and ending Raylan Givens' storied run in Harlan County. We could sit around and cry all day over the loss of one of television's best dramas, but that wouldn't be as fun as looking back at our favorite parts of the series and making some predictions for what we think will happen in the finale. Grab a jug of moonshine (not Mags', though!) and let's get started.

Justified Series Finale Post Mortem: Show Boss Talks Big Twists, Easter Eggs, a Near-Resurrection and More https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/justified-series-finale-post-mortem-030240756.html
In the beginning, and to the very end, Justified was about two guys who once dug coal together. The FX drama on Tuesday night wrapped its six-season run with, of course, much gunplay, a couple more deaths, a few happy (or happy-ish) endings, a significant time jump and a wee surprise. In summary: Desperate to get his dollars back, Markham took Ava hostage, until Boyd came in guns a-blazing, felling the venerable player. That set the stage for a Boyd/Raylan face-off, but the former knew better than to draw a (lent!) pistol, opting for prison instead. Raylan unexpectedly got the showdown he was looking for when Boon aimed to prove himself the quickest gun in the South, only to wind up about a half-inch to the left.

Justified Boss Explains the Series' Final Showdown and Raylan's Last Heroic Act https://www.yahoo.com/tv/s/justified-boss-explains-series-final-showdown-raylans-last-030703078.html
[WARNING: The following story contains spoilers from the series finale of Justified. Read at your own risk.]In the end, Justified's Raylan Givens finally learned when to not pull his gun.On Tuesday's series finale, Boyd (Walton Goggins) managed to evade the team of federal agents hunting for him (with dynamite!) and ultimately made his way back to Ava (Joelle Carter), who was being held captive by Avery Markham (Sam Elliott) in Mags Bennett's old marijuana drying shed. But after taking out Markham and turning his (empty) gun on Ava, Boyd was greeted by longtime rival Raylan (Timothy Olyphant), who ultimately opted to simply arrest his nemesis rather than kill him.

‘Justified’ Finale: Stars and Creator Break Down That Twist-Filled Ending (SPOILERS)
Spoiler warning: Do not read on unless you’ve seen the “Justified” series finale, “The Promise.”In what was perhaps the most unexpected twist of “Justified’s” six season run, once the dust had settled on the unpredictable series finale, all of our favorite characters actually succeeded in leaving Harlan alive.

Justified Was Never a “Watercooler” Show. And That’s Why Its Finale Was So Good. http://www.slate.com/blogs/browbeat...it_was_never_a_watercooler_show_and_that.html
When it comes to the finales of long-running series, my sense is that avoiding watercooler status tends to work out in a show’s favor. This is something I’ve been thinking about in the lead-up to a Mad Men finale that is practically guaranteed to leave a decent chunk of that show’s audience some degree of unsatisfied. That’s just the way it goes these days: expectations are high and the chatter is loud. But for a show like Justified—which has been an acclaimed show and a popular show, just never a particularly buzzy show, at least not compared to its contemporaries—there’s much more hope that a finale will be able to stick the landing, simply because it has fewer masters. There were no unanswered questions that had to be dealt with in last night’s “The Promise,” no mystery boxes to be opened.

'Justified' Showrunner Explains the Fates that Earned the Show Most Satisfying Series Finale https://www.yahoo.com/tv/justified-most-satisfying-series-finale-129287174690.html
In a TV season that saw some of our favorite shows come to an end, including Parenthood, Parks and Recreation, Mad Men, and Sons of Anarchy, it’s the deserving Justified that earned the title of Most Satisfying Series Finale in our inaugural reader-voted Yahooies.Walton Goggins has already described the significance of the final exchange between his Boyd Crowder and Timothy Olyphant’s Raylan Givens while accepting the award for Most Memorable Line on behalf of the show. Read his words here, and remember that the line, “We dug coal together,” is pulled from both the pilot and the Elmore Leonard short story upon which it was based. You should also know that Leonard’s story, “Fire in the Hole,” ended with Boyd dead, as the pilot was originally supposed to, but that the author so enjoyed Goggins’ performance on the FX drama that he later resurrected the character in his 2012 novel Raylan.
