Can you change the DVR to another one in the settings without physically moving the Revue? That would be just a wee bit of the di jobe as an old Irish-Japanese shipmate used to say.
what else would it be for? Actually it used to 'pass through' the content from the provider site. But now that they are blocking the passthrough it's all but useless.
NFL network is not blocked neither is the NFL HBO or showtime and other non network site. I barely watch any network programs.
I've got a bad box, have dots/artifacts all over the UI (and they move with every refresh, ie me moving the cursor) but not on the video coming from my HR24, and not during streamed content from apps, just on overlays when they are present.
Tried different HDMI cables, different cable into my Receiver, different cable direct to TV, tried the bedroom TV, and adjusted the resultions. It's got to be the box.

What exactly are you going to use google for? PORN ? I mean seriously what is the search feature for if not for network and cable shows that most people watch weekly. Movies ? I have netflix for that and I don't need Google tv for that. I have playon over my 922 and it works fine for no monthly fee to DISH other than the sling fee. You tube I can get from playon too.
In the 3-4 hours I had it hooked up in the living room, while troubleshooting the dots issue I:
- posted on 4 different forums
- monitored the tech support forum for responses to my problem
- watched part of a Netflix movie
- watched most of a video podcast I found
- watched half an episode of a TV show on Amazon VOD
- set 2 Fantasy Football lineups
- watched a half dozen youtube clips using leanback
- watched some reviews on CNet
- browsed the headlines in the NYT app
- watched a few videos on VEVO or whatever the music video thing is
- played a few songs on Pandora
- probably forgetting a few things, and many of these things were done at the same time.
...all from my couch drinking a screwdriver, without changing the input, without needing to go to my computer, without touching my droid. I can't wait to see what else it will do once the app store gets here, or it gets rooted, etc.
This thing is going to be awesome on Sundays.
My two biggest complaints are:
1) the lack of a backlight on the keyboard (I usually watch tv in the dark at night and the lack of backlighting is proving difficult to get used to from a usability standpoint).
2) that PIP isn't more robust: swap, resizing the PIP screen, moving it to different corners, and split screen would be highly useful. I'm hoping this functionality can be added via a software update in the near future.

Okay, I guess I don't need Google at all then. I can do all that in my computer room while watching DISH on my tv in that room using component for hd. So my"pip" screen would be my 19 " hdtv. This whole concept reminds me of the original webtv/dishplayers I had in 1999. It had the ability to do pip screen of the sat picture while surfing the internet and you could swap back and forth or just be on the internet. It was my first exposure to the internet before I had a computer. It was dial up only back then. Google tv would be cool, if I didn't mind the extra $4.00 monthly fee and if I didn't already have dnla support on my 922 using the play on application I would be tempted. But for now I will wait because play on does what I want now: Hula, Netlfix, Cbs.com, etc.

I does not work for me. I can see all the listing and select what I want to watch but then it give me an unconpatible video format error.

You know, Playon (and TVersity for that matter), both transcode for you to watch on your device. There are only select formats that actually pass through. I used to use them with my X-Box Extenders, before Microsoft got it together. You may want to encode your video in a manner that is compatible with your device. I use H.264 for all my stuff and because of the quality of the H.264 encoder, I convert all my 'other' videos to that format. Keeps me from using a *Versity, *On. It also greatly reduces the load on the host server, because no on the fly transcoding is happening.
I haven't gone that far yet. I'll try it tonight after work (or if things get too hectic, tomorrow) and report back.

So hands on curiosity is getting the best of me. I am going to run up to Best Buy tomorrow and play with one of these things. My Best Buy isn't very busy on Sundays, so I'll dip in before I get settled into a football game.

I was really excited about the Revue and have been anxiously awaiting its release. In fact, I pre-ordered two: one for my family room from Amazon and one for my bedroom from Dish. Both were set to replace my two Apple TVs (both hacked and running Boxee and XBMC). After two days using the one from Amazon, I'm really thinking of returning it and canceling the Dish order. Here are my main concerns right now:
1) Picture quality. The HDMI pass-through is really degrading the picture - a great deal of blockiness and artifacting. I've dropped my 922 down to 720p and that has helped somewhat, but it is not an acceptable long-term solution. It mystifies me as to how this problem could get past the testing phase.
2) No actual support for any media formats. The Revue was advertised to handle .avi, mpeg and .wmv. Support for .wmv was pulled, apparently at the last minute. Moreover, I've thrown a bunch of .avi and mpeg files at it and none would play. And browsing the web, the lack of support for quicktime because quickly evident. This is such a step backward from Boxee and XBMC. It even pales in comparison to my game consoles.
3) Network content blocking. Again, how Google didn't see this one coming is beyond me.
4) Poor app selection/quality. There really is very little to play with right now on GTV, and the apps which are available are bareboned at best. The Twitter client is a joke compared to the one on Boxee, the Netflix app is antiquated, and the HBO app works if you subscribe to the network from one of only two cable providers. if you have services with Dish Network, DirectTV, Time Warner, etc. . . . the HBO app is worthless. The streaming quality of the Netflix app is also subpar compared to that of my PS3.
5) Terrible networking abilities. My Apple TVs could find my Wireless N network immediately and reported back full signal strength. Furthermore, all of the laptops in our household have no problem getting on my N network. The Revue doesn't even find my N network at all, so I had to alter my plans and go ethernet. When I do a speed test using the GTV browser, it reports that I am downloading at 12-14mb, yet when I try to stream video from Amazon, I get downgraded to the lowest quality because Amazon reports that I have insufficient bandwidth. I am also completely unable to play HD content, as the stuttering is unbearable.
6) Harmony support. The Harmony app on my Evo works ok (took a while to get it going), but my Harmony One remote will not control the Revue at all. This despite having been told by Logitech that it would work.
Now I fully realize that I'm an early adopter and bugs are to be expected. But some of the problems are inexcusable. The key factor for me will be how quickly Google and Logitech push out updates. I hate to keep going back to Apple for comparison, but the new Macbook Air models hit the stores Thur/Fri and Apple already release an update to fix a few fairly insignificant (in comparison to GTV) bugs. Will we see an update from Google/Logitech this week?

I have been working on it... I didn't get the official release software until Friday.
I didn't want to review it until I had the real shipping software.
I will say this for $179 its not a bad buy, but if your buying at full retail of $299 then wait. This is definately a first generation product and feels and runs like one as well. But with that said I do believe that this indeed is the future of television.
