What exactly does adding an external hard drive to a 211 receiver do. Can you stop or rewind movies you are watching, record shows on different channels and do you have to run a dedicated cable from dish antenna for hard drive

What exactly does adding an external hard drive to a 211 receiver do. Can you stop or rewind movies you are watching, record shows on different channels and do you have to run a dedicated cable from dish antenna for hard drive

An EHD plugs into the USB port on the back of the 211. Once you activate, the software will download and turn the 211 into a DVR. There is a one time fee of $40 for this. You can record one sat channel and view a recorded program or an OTA channel. Use a powered EHD for best results. There is a thread about EHD's.

As said above, you can pause, stop rewind what your watching. You have a 1 hour max buffer or to the point where you switched channels. The fee is a 1 time fee per account. So if you decide you need more than 1 ehd for storage, you cann add as many as you want with no additional fees. Only 1 ehd at a time can be connected.
