TNT is also showing LOTR, in order, back-to-back-to-back starting Sunday morning and I have my DVR set to record all 3 in order, so it'll be getting a workout tomorrow.

Wish I could get 'em without commercials in HD though...

Are they the Extended Versions ? Otherwise you don't want to bother with it.

I'm sure eventually the Extended Versions will be on some commercial-free channel in HD....

From the length of time they're running, they're either the extended versions or TNT is going to stuff them with tons of commercial breaks. The info screen doesn't say either way. Taking a look at TTT that's airing right now, but haven't yet seen anything I recall from the extended version.

Starz! played the movies (extended versions) to death when they were available to them, but I didn't have a DVR then and Starz! wasn't in HD at that time (at least I don't recall it being in HD). I'll record all 3 Sunday and put them on my 2nd EHD...bet that'll take a few hours to transfer all that...but it'd sure be nice to get it in HD without 1) commercials and 2) all the ad text and network bug stuff.

Yeah, it's definitely not OAR and it looks far less crisp/clear than my from pre-downrezzed recording from HDNet Movies.

TTT doesn't look that crisp and isn't OAR either. I have the extended version collector's edition of all 3 and what I'm looking at on TNT right now isn't how my dvds look.

When/if the extended version of these 3 films come out on BD, I'll definitely buy them again.

Okay, from several scenes I've watched in TTT tonight, it is the extended version that's showing tonight. From the runtimes in the guide for Sunday, looks (hopefully) like they'll be the extended versions.

I had to clean up my IHD tonight to make sure I have plenty of space for the 3 films...

If it's something you really want, you might as well get the Blu-Ray and be done with it. 1080p and full bandwidth bitrate.

True... I have BSG season 1 HD DVD set and when they come out on BD will get the other seasons...I had the Fifth Element from TNT 1920x1080i, but the BD blows it away... I do wish one of the premium providers would put up Open Range again... or a BD release...

When I read this, the last showing in HD had finished.

But, besides HD, there is the question of whether it is the original audio, or the American dubbed version.

Given that Encore is showing the shorter theatrical version of Aliens (rather than the extended special edition), it would not surprise me if they choose the American version over the original Australian audio.

The premium channels seem to have a Joe Sixpack bias, given that they often choose to zoom films like Patton to 16x9...

It would be nice if they aired the original audio version (which I have on dvd) rather than the dubbed version, I agree.

I also have the Alien Quadrilogy on dvd, which has all the extended editions. HD is always fun for a viewing or two though.
