DTV & DISHTV, Wife said she heard they are merging next week on CNBC today?

This lends itself to calculation. I suspect there may be some maneuvering to get better deals, but offhand I’d say they are likely to accept. Too risky to lose everything, and even if the whole thing goes bad later- well, that may be on someone else’s watch.

I do not believe the majority of those that hold the debt, will get the full value of those bonds anyways.

What will stop TPG from spinning off the combined company with the debt attached.

It is exactly what Sinclair did with Diamond Sports and the RSNs, now look at what happened to them.

Not necessarily. The original bondholders may have sold them off years ago with multiple resales since then.
It's quite likely some or most have been resold at steep discount and the present bondholders are is in the cat bird seat rubbing their hands with glee.

Not remotely similar.

Sinclair overleveraged itself to buy the RSNs to use as a proxy to make lots of money via gambling. They forgot about the word "licensing" and the plan blew up in their face, and they went to a really bad Plan B.

TPG has cash. TPG could scuttle this long-term, but I've got to imagine there are at least a couple dozen rural US Senators that want to be told there is a long-term strategy. Sat is dying, but this provides TPG a unique track to online streaming.

I feel confident the government agencies will not vote this down but the initially reported 1.6 Billion dollar loss to investors is hard to stomach for anyone that can't be convinced that in the long run, it has the potential to be profitable
It depends whose administration the government agencies are under as we only know who it's under until January 19, 2025 at this point in time but there is still uncertainty after that.
