My current setup:
Dish500 (110/119)
Legacy Dishnetwork receiver (2732, I think).

My desired setup:
SuperDish (110,119, 121/105 for locals)
Dish300 (61.5 for internationals).

Additional equipement I own:
2 SW21 switches
1 SW64 switch.

My questions
I was told by the dish network rep that to make it all work, I would need a DishPro 34+ switch, but she was not able to tell me if (1) the SW64 switch I already own would do, and (2) whether or not my old receiver would need to be replaced?

Thank you for any insights you might be able to provide.

If you have 2 individual LNS for the 500 instead of a twin, you are ok. Run the 110/119/121 or 105 into the SW 64, and tie the 61.5 into the SW64 using the SW21. Keep in mind that you cannot have the SW21 on input 1 of the SW64 between the power inserter and the SW64, or you will fry the SW21. The main thing to consider is that your receiver needs to have the logic to see the FSS birds. If you have the 121 & 105 in your point dish screen, you are good to go. What type of dish are you planning to use for the 121/105? And old Primestar dish is a good choice, just make sure you get a dual output LNB for future upgradability. As for the 105, the bigger the dish the better.
 
If you are gettin a Superdish, the SW64 wont work (SW64 is Legacy and Superdish is DishPro). If the int'l you want is truly on 61.5 (and not also on 121), you would need the follwing

DP44 switch (for 4 inputs)
DishPro adapter (for the recdeiver)

Heck, the receiver may not accept 105 or 121. Check system install screen. I know the 1000,2000,3000,4000 and 5000 don't. Maybe more

This is incorrect. A poorman's SD can be constructed using a Primestar or other legacy dual LNB FSS dish, and you can run a fourth sat w/ an SW21-4sat setup using the SW64 and SW21. If E* provides him with the SD, then he would need the DP+44. Since he already has the SW64 and SW21s, he could get a P* dish and do it himself for little or nothing.

fully aware of that. I was one who did this a long time ago :)

I have problems w/121. I am not getting even transponders. Here is my setup.

sw64 switch

1A/1B - dish 500 @ 119
2A/2B - dish 500 @ 148
3A - empty
3B - 1.2M Channelmaster Andrew Dish w/ Linear Ku Band LNB

I even ended up trying directly into a receiver outside close to the source, still no joy. When I am at the Point Dish screen and manually enter in transponders, I get odd reception, but no evens.

I tried 3 receivers:

2700 - shows 121 odd and even on switch check, but evens do not come in.
4900 - shows only 121 odd on switch check.
301 - shows 121 odd and even on switch check, but evens do not come in.

I re-cut the cables, andd nothing is working. I tried changing the skew on the lnb as well, still no joy.

Please anyone help :)

Answer seems obvious to me. ;)

The "A" side is where the evens come in.

The LNB has to have 2 outputs - one for even, one for odd.

A single output LNBF is voltage switched for even/odd selection. Your E* LNBFs are "duals" which means each of their outputs is the same as a "single".

This is why your E* Legacy LNBFs have 2 feeds to the switch. The "A" ports are locked at one voltage, the "B" ports at the other. I forget which is which, but it doesn't matter.

Some old FSS/Ku LNBFs have 2 outputs - one Vertical, one Horizontal. That's the same as one Even, one Odd output - without any voltage switching needed. Those should work fine with a SW64.

But the critical point is that the LNBF MUST have TWO separate output cables.

Again, sorry, I don't remember which is which - V/H, even/odd, 13/18V, but if needed, the info can be easily found.
 
thanks for the reply. the lnb I have is a single. There is no apparent way to split it. I will see if I can get a double. Thanks.
 
If you only need one set of transponders you can use the SW64. Also, instead of running it into the SW64, run it into your SW21 on port 2 with the SW64 on port 1. This will fix it without needing the dual LNB(however, this will only work on 1 receiver). Just make sure that you do NOT put the SW21 on input 1 of the SW64 between the power inserter and the switch or you will fry the SW21. Good Luck.

WAIT A MINUTE. I missed the bit about 119//148 both on D500's. That makes no sense at all.

Also, you've totally misinterpreted what Larry was saying for a config - and that's even wth the damaged diagram - they're hard to do here - I know.

We need to start over. Such is the problem with mixing configurations in the same thread.

However, I must think at the moment, you are pushing the boundaries of what can be done with old gear. You also need to think real hard about whether you're going to need all these birds (and what about 110?) on all those legacy receivers.
 
Yes, in order to get the 110 & 119, you need to use 2 legacy dual LNBs into the SW64. Then you can add the 148 into the 3a/3b, and the 121 into it with the SW21. Like This:

Do NOT use oort 1 of the SW64 or you will fry the SW21 as I mentioned earlier. This will allow you to use the 121 on 1 receiver. Also, if you do get a dual LNB for the 121, you can use a D* style 2x4 multiswitch with 4 SW21s to feed up to 4 receivers this way(do not put the SW21 on line 1 between the power inserter and the SW64).

Are you using RG6 or RG59? For the DP you need RG6 for the bandwidth.

I put it together, but on the receiver it is hooked to I get nothing, all X's in the switch check. I hooked input 1 on the sw21 to the sw64 and then I hooked the dish 121 into input 2. I then connected the output to the receiver.

After trying the switch check a few times with 3 dish, 4 dish and full settings, the switch check freezes

any thoughts?

IF you have a 500 Twin, or legacy Twin, you MUST swap it out with 2 legacy duals so that you have 2 lines for the 119 and 2 lines for the 110. If you run a Twin into an SW64, it will not work properly. Also, what s/w version is your receiver? Hit the sys info or Menu/6/1/3 and let us know. The best thing to do is make sure that the SW64 is getting all 3 sats by itself, then add in the SW21. Also, do you have the power inserter plugged in? Once the SW64 shows up, add the SW21 in and you should get a switch type of SW21 - 4sat.

One final thing - ALL of the internationals are mirrored on the 121, so if that is the only reason you need the 61.5, you actually don't need the 61.5. In this case, IF you have the 500 Twin, you could add the 121 in on the line with the SW21, and you would not need the SW64. I final thing, look at the LNB and make sure it says 10.9-12.7 Ghz or something in that range.

I want to have 119, 110, 148 and 121.....the 148 is for some locals....I do not have 61.5.

I have legacy dual lnb's for 119/110 and 148...

I am getting sw64 switch detected and receognizing 119/110/148, as it has been for the past year.

when I hook the sw21 into the sw64 and 121 line, the receiver that is on the output end of the sw21 gets all XX's for switch check. this receiver is a 4900 w/ the latest firmware.

At the same time, the other receiver, connected at the power inserter end, is a 301.10 with latest firmware and it does get 119/110/148 sats., even when the 4900 does not get anything when attached to sw21. without sw21, 4900 works fine.

the lnb on the big dish for 121, when hooked to receiver at the source, no switches, I get odd transponders only. I was able to get a few chinese channels that were on free preview, bit no even transponders, even with a direct hookup. So, the lnb on the 121 seems to be of proper range.
