WebSAMS convenience

I signed up for programming with SRL and Skyvision yesterday and used their online Websams. SRL's websams handled what I subbed to Skyvision too, it was very easy to set up and you can see exactly what you are getting and pay with credit card, voila! Programming within 10 seconds!

Basic Pkg with Skyvision and MTV minipak at SRL for 3 months, less than $23/mo and it includes what we want and nothing else.

Websams very easy to use and no NPS salespeople trying to sell me PVR's, satellite internet, and Dick Network! (oops I mean dish)

As I said, they can set your Skyvision account up too.

Correct I have had Websams access on SRL & Skyvision's side for years. I don't mind talking with the CSR's at SRL there fast to answer the phones, courteous and don't try to sell you Stupid Dish or toasters from Sobongo.

6-9-10 I allowed my premium programming with NPS to expire last week, believing that NPS had leveled with me about the end of CBand premium programming.
Please tell us what it is that convinced you that NPS has leveled with you since all the evidence seems to indicate otherwise? Curious as to what you mean by "the end of CBand premium programming". NPS is trying to sell the idea that ALL, not just Premium (whatever that means), 4DTV C-band programming is being cut off by Motorola and you should switch to Dishnet.

6-9-10 I allowed my premium programming with NPS to expire last week, believing that NPS had leveled with me about the end of CBand premium programming. I now find SRL advertises that they will provide ala carte programming for the next year if I so subscribe. My question is, is premium CBand programming going to be around for another year and worth my subscribing with SRL?

The announced premiums leaving 4DTV are the Showtime, TMC and Flix. Scheduled for 6-30-2010. In addition to the NPS G3 channels and Starz HD already gone.

I have been subbing for 3-6 month packages for a few years now. Because I have been screwed by the "non refundable" nonsense they pull when channels leave or other circumstances come about. For example, in my case, the 3 months I lost when a receiver was damaged by lightning and I didn't have a backup or replacement right away. For me that ended NPS in 2007.

I was letting my sub go because of the crap. Figured I would get my news elsewhere when the switch was flipped. (I did discover a very popular news channel on another bird he he he.) Amyways I got a bill to renew and was letting it go when last night I received a "courtesy call" from NPS. Maybe they got the message. Tge caller asked one time about if I was aware of them getting out of C-band. I said yes and that is why I havn't renewed. He said that I had a credit for channels that were dropped. I told him to just keep me in the news with the credit money. Suprisingly he agreed so I now have news on a sub that didn't cost me anything. According to the caller, I will still have a credit after this little sub runs out. Have a great day!

I told the NPS CSR last time I spoke with them and tried to push their what are you going to do when the channels go away that I will be going to OTA tv antenna. I told him I wouldn't get Dish network if they gave me it for free. He said he was sorry he wasted his time with me. :)

am newbe on this website. thanks yall for the info about 4dtv. have a 12ft dish horizon to horizon and enjoy it a lot. also mpeg2. got nervous about motorola pulling the plug. to much invested! anybody know anything about if hd will be possible on 4dtv? have motorola hd receiver, but now only 2 channels left. not worth it, and works only sometimes. I disconnected it, and stored it away.

4dtv disappearing?

Hi folk. Thank you so much for all your replies. It is so good to know that there is a world beyond NPS! Will let you all know how I make out with Skyvision when my sub expires with NPS.:)

more gloom and doom posted at satforums today, NPS rep told a customer they were informed by moto 6/21/10 that 4dtv subs will end on 12/31/10. Then Stan followed up and said "The only thing I am waiting for is to see when SRL and Skyvision and YSP admit they have received Motorola's official announcement today. It should be interesting"

I am getting tired of hearing this crap, and if there is any truth, I'll be subbing until 12/31! (via SRL and skyvision)

When subbing does end my box may become an experimental unit-

Well, I just ask Stan on Satforum to post the letter or email that they got from Motorola on either the forum or the NPS web site. It'll be interesting to see what happens, not that I don't trust them.

What I can't understand is why NPS seems to have all this information and no one else. NPS has never come out with anything official, it's been all hearsay. If I would have to sum it up it looks like NPS is trying to kill C band all together including SRL and Skyvision. Seems they want no one to have any subscribers if they can't have it all. I see dirty money being passed from dish network trying to make this all a reality.

Look's like again no proof of anything from NPS , just a lot of double talk. Wouldn't you think that this would affect so many employees of Motorola that they couldn't keep a lid on it and yet nothing is being posted.

I spoke with SRL today and they said that NPS is closing down there c band business at the end of the year but it didn't effect them. If this was so official ALL players would have gotten the information today, so far NPS is the only one. Probably part of there effort to destroy c band more. Maybe there dish conversion sales went flat lately and they need to stir up the pot with more scare tactics to get it going again. Like Mike Kohl said on sat talk, history repeats itself. NPS has been playing dirty for quite some time and it all will come back and bite them.

I'm sick of NPS and all the bad press that other board puts out. If anyone is destroying c band it's NPS and those losers that post crap over there.

What I don't understand in regards to NPS is why they don't want to still sell 4dtv, like YSP does, YSP stabbed c-band in the back to get two-year commissions from dish, but will still take money for 4dtv. Hell when YSP did it they had over half of the 500,000+ subsciptions.

Maybe part of there dirty deal with Charlie was to not sell any more thus burying any chances of survival by the competition. Charlie Ergen wants C band dead and Direct tv too. He's a very dirty player and will stop at nothing to have it all.

Not that I condone piracy but dishnetwork need to be be hacked again so Charlie has something else to focus on vs taking the last bit of c band apart.

Well news is not good at all, I talked with SRL this morning and they have been notified by Motorola about ending the service effect first of the year. There not at this time sure about the 410's and W5. Look's like time to buy for more FTA's receivers.

Alls well that ends well. I plan to sub 4dtv until it ends, in the mean time we need to get to work on the bdm thing again so we can do our own mapping when 4dtv does end. Who knows may be plenty of fta in the long run... LONG LIVE TVRO!

Thanks to all the 4dtv c-band providers that are sticking it out to the end.

So are you telling me NPS is vindicated? Do we have this in writing, or is this yet more misinformation?

"With a name like "Miss Information" she must know something."

Got it from SRL this morning when I was renewing my W5 package. NPS vindicated...not in a million years, the way they pushed dish should answer that question.

I spoke with Skyvision and NPS with there swap out to dish crap put the numbers down so low that Motorola isn't supporting the 4DTV as of 12/31. Now they did say the 410 will continue but who knows how long.

This is a very sad day in C band, especially for us old timers.

Now we need to focus on how we can get the most out of our 4DTV's when stuff goes ITC which it still will I'm sure. We have to prevent Motorola at least from messing with our Generic maps.
